WASHINGTON -- President Bush has long cultivated the image of a macho rancher, frequently donning his boots and Wrangler jeans to clear brush on his sprawling Texas property. But he was decidedly noncommittal today and even a bit nonplused when asked for his reaction to the most talked-about ranching film in years: "Brokeback Mountain."
"I hadn't seen it," Bush told thousands of students and professors at Kansas State University, responding to a query from an audience member. "I'd be glad to talk about ranching, but I haven't seen the movie."
The movie, featuring the love story of two gay cowboys, this month won the Golden Globe award for best motion picture drama and top honors from the Producers Guild of America and is showing remarkable success even in conservative, red-state towns and cities that helped reelect Bush.
But if Bush intends to see it, he showed no such desire today when the young man in the crowd raised the idea toward the end of a lengthy, unscripted and unexpected question-and-answer session.
---
"You would love it," the questioner persisted. "You should check it out."

I don't want to see Buttpack Crammin' and I seriously doubt the President will either....
Here's another to give you nightmares.
Correction-two homosexual sheep herders who leave their wives to pack fudge. Not plausable outside the LA city limits.
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
They have an average ticket price for BBM? I would think that would have to be higher, since it is playing in Metropolitan Areas.....
Yep. But sure as tomorrow's sunrise it'll be spun somehow, probably along the lines of his being closed-minded for not having viewed it "yet," to quote the interviewer.
I don't have much of an opinion on 'Brokeback Mountain' except it is trash. Years ago, there was a film, 'The Rounders', with Glenn Ford and Henry Fonda, about two cowboys (not shepards, as portrayed in this movie), also long-term male friends, but there was NEVER any question about mixing things up with each other. The interesting interaction was between the horse and the cowboy, and it had a great deal more to do with personality than was exhibited in 'Brokeback Mountain'.
'Brokeback' is a COYOTE movie (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics). Men in close quarters over extended periods of time do NOT automatically turn to homosexuality.
Gay activist razzes President Bush. What an asshat.
ROTFLMAO!
Aye, that's right. But Heath Ledger's character was a life long cowboy. I wouldn't have called the other one a cowboy though- unless riding bulls at the rodeo counts.
Well, if I want to see gay cowboys, I'll watch the 1950s movie, Lawless Breed...
hehe :)
hehe it's a keyword now :)
I thought the question stupid, why ask the president of the United States that question.? Reminded me of the set up question to Clinton about what kind of shorts he wore.
One can speculate all kind of things, including repeat viewers, but the best figure to use is the average ticket price. Anyhow, BM is playing in a lot of art houses that tend to have plenty of low-price matinee showings. I paid $5.50 for my ticket. $6.40 is the average cost of a theater ticket at this time.
Is that really the girl's picture? She has a crazy look in her eyes.
We're going to see that pic all year, aren't we?
You better believe it.....LOL
How many sane men would leave this for Heath Ledger?
LOL! Good job!
