SAFETY HARBOUR, Florida, January 23, 2006 (LifeSiteNew.com) – Michael Schiavo, who had his disabled wife Terri killed last March by refusing her food and water, was re-married last Saturday in the Roman Catholic Church of Espiritu Santo in Florida.
Schiavo married Jodi Centonze. He had two children with her during the years he worked towards achieving Terri’s death.
Terri Schiavo was killed in March 2005, in spite of her family’s strenuous fight to prevent the removal of her feeding tube and water. Terri was left severely brain damaged after collapsing at age 26. Although medical authorities said she was in an irreversible “vegetative” state, her family maintained that she was able to interact with them, and they sought to have authority for her care transferred to them.
On Saturday, Terri Schiavo’s sister Suzanne Vitadamo spoke out against the Catholic bishops of Florida, saying Terri may not have been killed if the bishops would have supported the fight to protect her life.
Speaking at a “Stand Up for Life” rally in South Carolina, Ms. Vitadamo said if the Florida bishops had stepped forward and denounced what was taking place "there would have been such an enormous outcry of support from parishioners in our diocese and from Catholics around the world that my sister could very well be alive today."
Bishop Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg, Florida, outraged Catholics when he offered his only statement during the 13 days it took Terri to die from dehydration, encouraging her family to reconcile with Michael Schiavo in the name of “peace.”
The Catholic Church of Espiritu Santo, where Michael Schiavo’s second marriage took place, is in Bishop Lynch’s diocese of St. Petersburg.
While the Florida Bishops dismally failed to intervene and speak out in defense of Terri and of the value of all human life, the Vatican issued repeated condemnations of the decision to cause her death.
In four different appeals, Vatican officials sought protection for her life and spoke out against the inhumanity of withholding food and water.
“Without the tube which is providing life-giving hydration and nutrition, Terri Schiavo will die. But it is not that simple. She will die a horrible and cruel death,” wrote Cardinal Renato Martino. “She will not simply die; she will have death inflicted upon her over a number of terrible days, even weeks. How can anyone who claims to speak of the promotion and protection of human rights - of human life - remain silent?”
Suzanne Vitadamo warned listeners at the rally about the implications of Terri’s death for all vulnerable people.
"Our society has shifted to a quality of life mentality and has lost sight of the value (and) sacredness of all human life," Vitadamo said. "We now as a nation are deciding when it is OK or not OK to kill those suffering from disabilities."
When will this soap opera ever end?

Michael Schiavo was/is Lutheran although some have speculated that he converted to Scientology.
Alas, he's several years away from mandatory retirement age.

He's not married. He's a widower. Perhaps he's converted to Catholicism (someone says he was Lutheran) and repented?
The new wife, however, sure seems to have placed herself outside Catholic teaching being divorced, knocked up by Michael, etc.
Were they continuing to live together before the marriage? Sure does seem something very strange here.
Isn't there a part in the interview or paperwork that asks if you knew the person while still married to a previous spouse? I forget what the term is, but there is term describing it, and the priest is supposed to investigate or question further in this situation.
Hunh. On Saturday January 21, St. Pete Times says they got a license on Friday with an undisclosed wedding date. Big secret.

Then on Monday LifeSite says the marriage happened on Saturday. And they know which church. And nothing in the MSM. Hunh.
Nope. The "Michael murdered Terri" contingent will be the Nazi Hunters of this soap opera. They'll keep it alive.

Mike and Jodi lived together for many years prior to their wedding and had two children. Mike refused to divorce Terri even though he claimed she was no longer alive.
And to all, thanks for your responses. In my church, one who violates the sanctity of a current marriage cannot have the new marriage consecrated by the church. And those who go through the repentance process must show fruits meet for repentance for at least a year. Under circumstances such as this, the couple would be married by the church official but only civilly until they have repented fully and shown true penance. Then a church ceremony would consecrate the marriage. Some friends of mine are going through this process. She was pregnant so they were married civilly by the church authority and, if all goes well, they can have the marriage consecrated in a few more months.
I will assume that the local church followed the proper process in this case. I won't judge. (And I didn't know Michael wasn't Catholic.)
Good for the kids, I guess. I hope all goes well for this second marriage but I wouldn't make any bets on it.

If the new bride was previously married, she no doubt received an annulment from the tribunal of the diocese of St. Petersburg. The annulment process in general is just a joke, so that would certainly go perfectly with the whole sordid scenario here.

Your suspicion is well founded. The place was swarming with them when Terri was killed. Judge Greer's courthouse sits right there, and Scientologybots would come demonstrate on behalf of Mikey, our new bridegroom, just a few miles south from their Clearwater stronghold.
