There seem to be several versions of the saying out there used by the Right and the Left. The version I always heard was on libertarian sites: "First they came for the Jews, and I was silent because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the guns, and I was silent..." Ending with, "When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out."
But it appears it started as a saying against the Nazis.
