Iran threatens to start “industrial-scale” nuclear works

Iran threatens to start “industrial-scale” nuclear works Mon. 23 Jan 2006 Iran Focus

London, Jan. 23 – Iran’s top nuclear negotiator warned the West on Sunday that the Islamic Republic would resume uranium enrichment “on an industrial scale” if the international dispute over its suspected nuclear weapons work was referred to the United Nations Security Council.

In an interview with the Financial Times published online, Larijani, secretary-general of the powerful Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), said that the possibility of resuming industrial-scale enrichment was open for discussion with European states.

Britain, France, and Germany – the European Union 3 – have led negotiations with Tehran over its sensitive nuclear activities since 2003.

Larijani said that Tehran would begin uranium enrichment if the negotiations route was closed. “Everything depends on the way we are treated. If the negotiating route is open, we prefer to reach a conclusion through talks. But if this route is closed, we are obliged to follow up our other scenario”.

“The Additional Protocol and the suspension were approved by the Majlis. If we are referred to the Security Council, the government is obliged by the Majlis to lift all voluntary measures including the Additional Protocol”, he said.

Asked whether that meant that Iran would resume nuclear fuel production and industrial enrichment, Larijani replied, “Yes”.

He said that the Russian proposal which involves Iran enriching uranium exclusively on Russian soil was incomplete. “There are two issues to be considered. One is Iran’s right to enrichment, and the other is non-diversion. Any solution should be consistent with these considerations. The scale, extent and timing can all be discussed”.

Larijani said that there should be a limit to inspections of Iranian military sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency. “In principle, we cannot open such doors to everyone”. “Such issues can’t be raised daily”, he said.

Iran’s top national security official vowed that Tehran would never give in to international pressure and back down in its nuclear drive. “If they think any government in Iran could give up nuclear technology, they are mistaken. Look at the government of Mohammad Khatami – many of these nuclear activities began when he was president

These 9th Century pieces of filth *have* to know that Israel won't stand idly by here. Therefore, one must ask: "are they looking forward to WWIII...or the final battle between "islam" and 'the infidels"?

If they do, I'm opening a nuclear McDonalds next door.

It seems that they are. The president seems to subscribe to some kind of Mohammedan end-times prophecy.

(It's one of Dajjal's areas of expertise.)

Question: Saddam boasted about having WMD he no longer had, in hopes of intimidating the West, as well as his neighbors, and got his ass handed to him. Is Ahmadinejad equally foolish as to incite a war over something he doesn't have?

IMHO, the answer is "no". IF that's the answer, then one has to contemplate whether or not he is either,

A) Out of his mind and ready to accept the destruction of Tehran with nothing to retaliate with.

B) Much further along the nuclear chain than we are publicly admitting.

Another possibility is that he has distortions of reality in his mind and he actually believes Iran can defeat the West in a military conflict. Saddam had similar delusions of false greatness and power. These ME leaders tend to fall victim to their own delusions of nonexistent power.

He believes that - when he gets the bomb - he can nuke Tel Aviv, and that the Ummah can absorb the backlash. That's a distortion of morality and I hope reality too. He imagines that the purest sons of Iran will survive. In his mind the Ummah will have won if Iran destroys Israel.

The vast majority of Iranian deaths in a nuclear exchange will be of people who aren't fanatic Islamics like Ahmadinejad - but of people who dress like us. Ahmadinejad doesn't care about them. The Mullahs didn't care about them when they used them as minefield fodder in the Iraq war - they won't worry about using them as human shields in a nuclear exchange.

All megalomaniacs operate in that manner. They surround themselves with sycophants and boot-licking yes-men who are afraid to say no to them. That, combined with their obsession for symbollic grandiosity, is why they start wars. Fortunately , it's also the reason they always lose.

The Final Demand should be interesting. For Iraq it was that Saddam and his henchmen should leave the country. What will it be for Iran?

Aquinasfan: Thanks for the ping!

"are they looking forward to WWIII...or the final battle between "islam" and 'the infidels"?

Very very definitely the Final Battle. Not "merely" another world war.

But it's not just Ahmadinejad and the Shi'ite Iranian leadership. The Sunni Muslims have also been inundated for years with propaganda that the terrorism of Al Qaeda and others is part of the Final Battle.

The Muslim media from Egypt to Pakistan consistently paint al-Qaeda, the US-led "war on terror", the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and events such as those in Uzbekistan in the perspective of the "End of Time" and Har Megiddo.

See my FR homepage and my Links page for more information on Islamic End Time beliefs.

BTW, many imams are preaching that if/when there is a nuclear exchange, Allah will arrange the winds, etc. so that the blast will miraculously not destroy any faithful Muslims, and that radiation will kill only the infidels. I kid you not. I do not know whether Ahmadinejad believes such fantasies, but it would not surprise me one bit if he does.

If he believes no one blinked for his UN speech, and that a light from God shown on him, he probably believes the winds of war won't blow on Muslim countries. He's feels of chaos and death...

Hey, Iran: Do whatever you think you need to do.

The hammer is coming down, and it ain't no nailing-hammer.

It's much, much bigger.

Iranian insanity went to seed a long time ago.

It's now time to burn down the weeds.
