This has been a long time coming. A friend of mine who is a good Catholic and wears it on his sleeve somewhat, asked me why Anglicans still bother with their services?

Maybe this question needs to be sent forward to the church leadership that accepts ordained homsexuals.

I'm happy to see some folks standing up for their beliefs. If the head of the churches keep going against the wishes of their members, folks will walk with their feet, and their pocketbooks. Hope it's worth it to those who support the gay marriage proposals.

Bishop Lee tried to have it both ways on the Robinson matter. He voted for his ordination, he said, because he did not believe he had reason to reject New Hampshire's choice for their bishop; and meanwhile, he reaffirmed the Virginia Diocese policy that prohibits ordination of homosexuals or blessings of same-sex relationships. The Virginia delegation to the general convention was very divided on the Robinson vote. A good friend of mine was one of the delegates who voted against Robinson.

It seems that Bishop Lee's attempt to "split the baby" on this issue have failed. Christ Church in Alexandria, one of the other largest parishes in the Virginia diocese, has become quite split over this as well, losing clergy, members, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions. They wil lose even more people to the Falls Church if the latter splits from ECUSA.

Your friend has a good point.

At some point a church becomes so compromised and so accomodating of the spirit of the times, that they might as well reorganize as a Rotary Club because they no longer have anything to do with the great commission and in many ways are working against it.

No offense to Rotary Clubs.

Does anyone have any insight as to where The Falls Church would go if they did split from the ECUSA? It's a pretty well-known congregation here in northern Virginia, is the 18th century namesake of the town, but unlike some Episcopal parishes upset by this, it is much more "low-church" evangelical in its Episcopalianism than "high-church" Anglo-Catholic.

So unlike those parishes that I could see breaking away either to go whole hog, swim the Tiber and affiliate with the Church of Rome, or going into one of these "halfway" congregation confederations I've heard about ("Anglican Catholic", or switching allegiance to conservative African bishops like in Nigeria, etc.), I'm really curious where The Falls Church might go to. Is there a grouping of low-church ex-ECUSA parishes already?

Send them an email, THANKING THEM for taking a rare stand for the Bible, against the homosexual agenda, in the Episcopal Church.

Our Episcopal church left the ECUSA because of this and their support of abortion...I am happy we are with a great group of Anglicans: http://www.theamia.org

I've been to this church. This is a very prestigious Episcopal church, one of the oldest in America. George Washington was one on it's vestry (board of elders). The suburban town of "Falls Church" Virginia (ca. 1690s) is named for this particular church. In the '80s evangelicals got control of the vestry and were able to call a solidly biblically orthodox Rector. Thank goodness, no, really thank God they are taking public action against their apostate bishop.

This is the same Bishop Lee who dared to claim to have "defrocked" (a word usually referring to discipline for a moral lapse) a Northern Virginia priest who dared to resign from the Episcopal denomination, (but who refused to resign from the priesthood) to join with the Anglican Mission in America (under a foreign bishop...still a part of the Anglican Communion).

Christ is Lord of his (true & invisible) Church! Let judgement begin with His people.
