I really,
really hate to say this, but didn't the US govt. have a habit of putting a number of federal facilities in close proximity to day care centers (Murrah building in OKC for example) ?
A pre-emptive strike to take out rogue nuke capability ain't the same thing as (rumor has it) Jihadi-assisted truck bombs against the US govt. under auspices of ultra-libertarian right-supremacist whatnots, granted...
But involving the children at all does grate on my nerves.

No, that's not true at all; the care centers are for kids of employees, I believe.

Uh, I think there was a day care center in the Federal building for employees to leave their children. I Don't think they were supposed to be hostages in case someone with scruples wanted to blow the place up. Since it wouldn't stop anyone without scruples anyway.

The daycare center in the Murrah building would be considered a building amenity/ employee convenience---esp. considering that most of the employees had a lengthy commute to work from the 'burbs.

I hardly think the daycare was there to protect the Murrah building! Could it be...to provide daycare for the Federal workers...?!
