From what I have run into in the school system, boys are evil and girls are everything. The deck really is stacked against boys.

It's become non-PC for a man to act like a man. And they wonder what's wrong.

No matter how much the libs proclaim men and women are equal, they will always be wrong.

Boils down to different gifts that we should appreciate.

Boys certainly won't do any more poorly than girls in math and science if:

1. Real math/science is taught rather than touchie-feelie mush.

2. By teachers who are interested and capable in those courses, not by coaches, band teachers, assistant principals etc just needing to pick up a course or two.

3. Students are grouped by ability into three or four groups.

Difficult to get and maintain correct placements? You bet.

Expensive? Not much, if any.

All students can be challenged at appropriate levels, not necessarily happily, and most will appreciate the success if it is clearly earned.

Choose your America.

Boys also account for 80 percent of Ritalin prescriptions. Coincidence?

I am a public high school teacher. I can attest first hand that boys are in a lot of trouble, dropping out, not attending college, headed for prison. White males are the most forgetten group. Many are headed nowhere.

Indeed.

My son's third grade teacher told me she disliked little boys.

I told her quit teaching...

Boys are not girls. Never will be and this campaign against them is out of hand.

There are those who think we are all weird here, but in these here parts, people of my faith send their boys to all male high schools and their girls to all girls high schools and most of us think that should start in 6th grade. The boys don't fall behind the girls when they are not in the same classroom.

There is plenty of socializing - that's why God invented football games, basketball games and dances.

"Boys are suffering. They are sitting in classrooms where they can't perform at the same level as girls and so cannot compete with girls," he says. "As a result, they have lower self-esteem. The bottom line is that they are suffering both academically and emotionally." ( neverdem)

To neverdem and All:

So.....what are the parents on this board going to do about it? What about their sons? Are they going to send their boys to the local government school slop house, cross their fingers, and hope their son won't be affected?

Even if their son comes from an intact family with two functional parents he will be swimming in a sea of teachers, administrators, and other children who are set on destroying his life.

Solution: Do what ever you can to remove your child from government school cesspools of ignorance.

Solution: All should work for the complete privatization of universal K-12 education.

I would also suggest reading Raising Cain by Dan Kindlon and Michael Thompson.

I agree and that is why I homeschool my two boys. Before I get flamed ~I am not saying everyone has to homeschool their boys, I am just giving my reasons for homeschooling my boys. IMO- my boys need about half of their day for physical hands on learning.

A guy can get D's and still be President. And he can get caught cheating, thrown out of school and still be Senator. So why do we need grades.

Read the book "The War Against Boys" by Christina Hoff Summers. Enlightening to read how popular culture is being reworked in front of our eyes to denegrate men and "feminize" boys. Good discussion of how colleges would soon be dominated by girls (that became true sooner than the author thought it would) and how cooperative learning done poorly can hurt boys while it helps girls.

There has been discussion at the local level in a nearby county of having all girl and all boy middle schools. Certainly a thought. Of course we USED to have excellent all-male colleges until the liberals got a hold of them....

Thank God I live thousands of miles away from THAT madness. This semester in my sophomore English class we are reading "Beowulf," to be followed by "The Iliad" and "The Odyssey." Boys, for the most part, enjoy exciting stories with heroic men showing strength, courage, and intelligence.

To use the words of one sophomore boy: "I'm sick to death of girl amazon stories." You know, the ones where the girls are great and strong, and the boys barely mentioned at best or evil at worst.

The good news, at least for myself and my son, is that our schools way up here at the edge of the Arctic Circle are little influenced by the gender Nazis. I don't think there's a leftist in the bunch until my son gets to high school, and by that time, he should have the wherewithall to compassionately think of any leftist he meets as a prattling fool. It's good teaching in a place where a student who shows up at your doorstep with a shotgun means, "Let's go hunt some birds."
