A two-year study in the latest issue of the Journal of Clinical Dentistry found that CaviStat, a calcium/arginine-based product, was more effective than fluoride in fighting tooth decay when used in toothpaste form. The study, involving 726 children, found the group using CaviStat had 58 percent fewer cavities than those using over-the-counter fluoride toothpaste.

"While BasicMints, Ortek's first candy-based product, is not yet available, the Roslyn Heights-based company sells CaviStat toothpaste as DenClude for sensitive teeth and ProClude, a polishing paste used by dental hygienists. "

Interesting, thanks for posting it.

Cool. Fluoride is toxic.

" Mandrake, do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk... ice cream. Ice cream, Mandrake, children's ice cream."

I used to work with a guy that swore that fluoride was added to toothpaste to pacify the human species. It did nothing for tooth decay, but would just take the edge off the natural aggression that men should have.

It came in about the time hippies emerged. I'm not remembering all of his points, but it sounded interesting.

Adding fluoride to dairy products would render it inactive, as it binds with the calcium.

After my daughter's last visit to the dentist, I would be willing buy this stuff by the truckload.

I would be cheaper than her next office visit at the end of this month.

Just remind her that dogs don't get cavities,
so all she has to do is gargle with dog saliva.....

Actually my dental hygene has improves tremendously
since I started brushing with dilute hydrogen peroxide,
also run the floss through it as you floss.
Kills germs FAST.

Another way to prevent cavities is to chew gum sweetened with sorbitol.

Also, Laser Dentistry is superior then using a drill.
There is no pain when you get a cavity removed using a laser.

That's news to me. I've been taking 3,000mg of it a day, and I haven't had a cold sore in years. But I sure as heck haven't needed Viagra any more!
