Air Force volunteers work on gathering wood during the first phase of the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) Training Instructor Course in the Colville National Forest near Ione, Wash., on Thursday. The physically and mentally demanding 23-week program, which operates from Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash., trains future survival instructors in methods of teaching aircrews how to survive in any environment. The attrition rate is 25 percent.
Hey, Old Sarge, am I obsessed with this Air Force gloves thing or what?
An Atlas V rocket carrying the New Horizons spacecraft on a mission to the planet Pluto lifts off from launch pad 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., on Thursday. The spacecraft could reach Pluto as early as July 2015.
Meanwhile, the Canteen's very own "Old Sarge" is on Leave at DisneyWorld on a search of his own for the real "Pluto."
A soldier with the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division looks out an aircraft window as members of the unit return home to Fort Benning, Ga., from deployment in Iraq on Thursday.
Thats is our 3rd ID, first in, last out. .....FILO= loyalty.
Sisters Samantha (left) and McKenzie Bloocker watch a video screen showing their father, Staff Sgt. William Bloocker, and other soldiers with the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division exit a plane minutes before being reunited with their families on Thursday at Fort Benning, Ga. About 160 sliders from the unit returned from deployment in Iraq.
My hero is home too. Thank you Third Infantry!
Vermont Army National Guardsman Jon Provencher (right) holds his 10-month-old son Bryer as fellow Guardsman Dominic Gervais (left) admires the child, as 65 soldiers from Delta Company of the 1st Battalion, 172nd Armor Regiment arrive at Lyndon Town School in Lyndonville, Vt., on Thursday, following a deployment to Saudi Arabia.
There is no shortage of haircuts or heroes in our US Army.
Staff Sgt. George Hicks (second from right) of D Company, 1st Battalion of the 172nd Armor Regiment, Vermont Army National Guard, hugs his mother Vera LaBlond, as his wife Lisa Hicks, right, looks on, during a homecoming ceremony for the unit on Thursday in Lyndonville, Vt. The company was deployed to Saudi Arabia.
Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) team members board the guided missile cruiser San Jacinto (CG 56) during a training exercise on Tuesday in the Persian Gulf. San Jacinto is part of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group, now on a regularly scheduled deployment conducting maritime security operations.
Security, and room service provided, at no extra charge by our Armed Forces.
Just another day at the office for our Troops.

Hey Tom........remember Sam and Dave. Got anything by them stashed away in you closet? Like 'Soothe Me Baby"?
I see you stuff mornings before work but am too busy before work, reading the news, developing a bad attitude to ward off Bozos and paying bills, to post anything.
But now.....It's Friday Night!

A PRAYER OF PROTECTION
The light of God surround you The love of God enfold you The power of God protect you The presence of God watch over you Wherever you are, God is, And all is well. Amen.
BLESS THIS HOUSE Bless this house O Lord we pray; Make it safe by night and day;
Bless these walls so firm and stout, Keeping want and trouble out:
Bless the roof and chimneys tall, Let thy peace lie over all;
Bless this door, that it may prove ever open to joy and love.
Bless these windows shining bright, Letting in God's heav'nly light;
Bless the hearth a'blazing there, with smoke ascending like a prayer;
Bless the folk who dwell within, keep them pure and free from sin;
Bless us all that we may be Fit O Lord to dwell with thee;
Bless us all that one day we May dwell O Lord with thee.
