Confounding factor unaddressed in the research:

Blacks smoke menthol cigarettes, while whites smoke non-menthol (by and large).

The black smokers seemed to more slowly metabolize, or break down, the nicotine from the cigarettes, leaving more of it in their blood than in young white smokers, the researchers found....

the blacks had more of a chemical in their blood called cotinine. Cotinine is produced when the body breaks down nicotine

HUH???

Ahhhh, no.

If it is not intuitively obvious that no good can come from rolling up dead leaves, sticking them in your face, setting them on fire, and sucking the smoke into your lungs, then all the taxpayer subsidized studies in the world are likely to make a difference.
