Headline only at this point
They can run ... but they cannot hide
Yeah, they are as paranoid as they are delusional.
This tells me that they have no intention of stopping their drive for nuclear weapons.
This situation is precisely what wars are for. Try to come up with another solution.
Tally me banana. :o)
I don't think there has been any Iranian govt. assets in the US since the shah.
I think they want an Islamic dollar.
pong
As oil hits over 100 bucks a barrel and we are paying over 6 bucks a gal for gas, the screams you will hear will be those of the Democrat Party (among others) saying ... "War for oil"!
We're gonna have a good time then.
You might be right.
However, the Iranians might be "moving" money and assets merely as a ruse.
It may also signal....absolutely nothing.
Has anybody seen Sen.Rockefeller lately?
Sounds like they are planning to do something to upset almost everyone. they know their assets would be frozen. Considering it is Europe, they must be planning something really overt and atrocious.
Given that Hillary is criticizing the administration over Iran, I thought I'd post this tidbit about the Clinton's here.
Here is what Clinton said at a meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland: Iran today is, in a sense, the only country where progressive ideas enjoy a vast constituency. It is there that the ideas that I subscribe to are defended by a majority.
And here is what Clinton had to say in a recent television interview with Charlie Rose:
Iran is the only country in the world that has now had six elections since the first election of President Khatami (in 1997). (It is) the only one with elections, including the United States, including Israel, including you name it, where the liberals, or the progressives, have won two-thirds to 70 percent of the vote in six elections: Two for president; two for the Parliament, the Majlis; two for the mayoralties. In every single election, the guys I identify with got two-thirds to 70 percent of the vote. There is no other country in the world I can say that about, certainly not my own.

The Arabs have ALWAYS been "talking up gold." Gold was their standard when I was "over there" in the early 80's. It was over $800/ounce. I know because I was buying gold jewelry and little, teeny-weeny Swiss pieces of quasi-jewelry/bars. They were very pretty and 999.9% pure gold, with flowers engraved on them. All was sold ONLY by weight of gold.
Sidenote: Interest rates in the U.S. were 18%. That HAS changed, hasn't it? We were buying a house then. Too bad we couldn't put it all in long term (30 years) t-notes....at that same 18%. The house WAS the better investment in the long run.
The use "petro-dollars" because the petroleum industry, via the U.S. dollar, drives their economy. That is the money that speaks over there. They know that the very concept of "Islamic dollar" is dumb.
Petro-dollars and gold....nothing's changed.
Yesterday ElBaradi met with cheif diplomat from Iran who 'asked for more time' which of course he was granted (ElBaradi refusing to issue a condemnation requested by the EU).
Just more preperations so that IF sactions are put in (months down the road) they will have even LESS direct effect on the mad regime.
I like the way you put that. The "can do" attitude.
I would say this is a shot across the bow of the Europeans, in effect telling them that they had better not support The USA in any santions against Iran.
ONLY a massive air assault on the Iranian nuke facilities will save NYC and Washington D.C. from being turned into craters.
It MUST be done.
