Great Britain: 150 paedos in your school (At least 150 convicted pedophiles working in U.K. schools)

AT least 150 convicted paedophiles are working in schools, The Sun has discovered.

We uncovered the shock figure last night as Education Secretary Ruth Kelly battled to save her skin over the scandal of pervert teachers.

Kelly yesterday admitted she and her ministers cleared five sex offenders to work in schools in just 13 months.

That’s the same number as were cleared by ministers in all the EIGHT YEARS since Labour came to power.

The scandal emerged as Education Secretary Ms Kelly admitted to MPs that 88 perverts had not been banned from classrooms — or had been lost in the system.

Only a handful are feared to have returned to teaching. But SEPARATE figures disclosed to The Sun reveal a more shocking threat to our kids.

A conservative estimate is that at least 150 paedophile teachers are in the nation’s classrooms. All are perverts convicted before 2000 and given partial bans.

Because they had a lust for boys, they were allowed to carry on working with GIRLS — or vice versa.

All will be subjected to new investigations led by Sir Roger Singleton. Their names are among 4,045 on the Education Department’s discredited List 99 — which the public had been led to believe barred sex offenders outright from working with kids.

Yesterday embattled Ms Kelly was backed by Tony Blair as she pledged to close loopholes in the system. She declared: “Nobody who is convicted or cautioned for child sex offences should be allowed to teach in schools.”

Shadow Education Secretary David Willetts demanded: “So why has this Government done so for the last eight years?”

Ms Kelly said that of the 88 perverts, 32 were never put on the schools blacklist — despite being on the Sex Offenders Register. A huge probe is under way to find if any are still working.

Thirteen perverts are under investigation after being given the green light by officials to work in classrooms but it is not known if they are teaching.

Others won permission to continue working — like PE teacher Paul Reeve, who was caught viewing child porn, and maths master William Gibson, a convicted child molester.

The Sun Online - Sun Says Blame shame
Blame shame
LABOUR’S kneejerk response to outrage over pervert teachers has been to blame the Press.

So where do we stand today?

Ruth Kelly has belatedly slammed the classroom door on paedophiles.
Was she driven by media pressure? Or because it was the right thing to do?

Kelly’s complacent officials sat on their hands for 18 months — despite the lessons of Soham.

Who knows how much longer they would have dithered, but for newspapers exposing this scandal?

Of the 10 perverts cleared by ministers since Labour came to power, HALF got the green light during Kelly’s year in charge.

Even after yesterday’s crackdown, dozens of sex offenders may still be allowed to work with children.

Kelly has yet to apologise and defiantly believes she’s not to blame.
She is not off the hook.

Her handling of this job has already forced Tony Blair to delay his Cabinet reshuffle once.

The PM wanted to sack her, but needs someone to push through his vaunted education reforms.

The question to be resolved over the coming days is whether he can risk his own neck by keeping her.

I will sure say a prayer, and this should never have happened. It's 'human rights stuff' that lets them back into schools - let's be clear - no one is stopping these people from working or having a career - only stopping them doing so with children. Fair enough - no problem. They crossed the line and there are consequences.

Bizarrely the head-teachers in the schools didn't always do a full criminal disclosure check (CRB) - as a nurse I couldn't go onto an adult ward without one! That such a slovenly culture exists in some schools is more worrying.

Having said all that - this has been over-egged. It was a problem, it is been identified, it is being sorted, thank God without any serious harm done that we know of. Kind regards,

If they are all in a single school, then close it. Duh!
