I thank God that I no longer have to attend the annual MLA convention.
What she said may sound a bit strange, but I have often heard stranger things said at the MLA.

If it's a boy, she can name it George W.
If it's a girl, she can name it Georgia W.
(I can't take credit for this...I heard it during a press conference...President Bush asked a lady reporter how her new baby was doing, she said fine, President Bush asked her "Did you name the baby George W.?" The lady reporter laughed and said "It's a girl!" to which President Bush promptly replied "Georgia W.?")
