If we turn down his offer of truce (which we certainly ought to do), and then in the months to come, we attack Iran (which we certainly ought to do), then world opinion may be easily swayed that we are an aggressive, imperial power which is looking to profit from war and has no interest in peace.
I fear that we will be in an awkward place. If the UN were worth anything at all, it would take the lead on Iran. But I don't expect that to happen!

Not going to happen. As much as I despise the Mullahs, the people CHOSE them with their 1979 Revolution. They need to deal with it in the same way we dealt with our own Civil War back in the day.
I don't think we should invade Iran. We need to bomb their nukes to smithereens, take out Abajaheedin and his fanatical pals, and help the Iranians help themselves.
You might as well object in WW II, "oh great, now we are going to take on all the fascists in the world." Well yeah, that's sort of the whole point.
Actually WW2 was a declared war between the Allies and the Tri partite pact. Never was a "war on fascism"
Fighting against Iran would be a piece of cake compared to the battle we'd have to fight against the Deans and Schumers and Kennedys at home.

I agree with the author. We must invade this year. If the Iranians counterattack with a nuke, that should not slow us down, but rather make the need for invasion and overthrow even more important to accomplish.
