I've been thinking about Bin Laden's offer of truce and how it relates to Iran.

If we turn down his offer of truce (which we certainly ought to do), and then in the months to come, we attack Iran (which we certainly ought to do), then world opinion may be easily swayed that we are an aggressive, imperial power which is looking to profit from war and has no interest in peace.

I fear that we will be in an awkward place. If the UN were worth anything at all, it would take the lead on Iran. But I don't expect that to happen!
