Crimean Tatars Call On Kyiv To Restore Their Rights
RFE/RL's Tatar-Bashkir Service/Interfax ^ | 12 December 2005

Crimean Tatars Call On Kyiv To Restore Their Rights 12 December 2005 -- Members of the Crimean Tatar Congress gathered in the main Crimean city Simferopol said yesterday that Ukraine's integration with the West should not go forward until Kyiv restores Tatar rights.

Congressional delegates, issuing a statement at the end of the three-day session, accused Ukrainian authorities of disregarding the rights of Crimean Tatars, who were deported en masse by Soviet leader Josef Stalin in 1944.

RFE/RL's Tatar-Bashkir Service reported that congress member Timur Dagci was among the voices calling for Kyiv to recognize the deportation as genocide:

"Our problem -- the problem of Stalin's genocide of the Crimean Tatar people -- is an undeniable fact, so I believe all countries, the United Nations, and the European Union will recognize it and will decide that it was indeed genocide," Dagci said.

Many Tatars have since returned to Crimea, but have been unable to reclaim valuable land and property that was theirs before the deportations.

The Tatar Congress delegates called on the Council of Europe and the European Union to make Ukraine's possible membership in the EU and World Trade Organization contingent on their recognition of Crimean Tatar rights.

Gas shortges are just more bonding or Europe and Russia. Russia can allways cutt-off Europe and Russia will hawe egough gas for itself, but Europe will freeze.

And for Tartars, Stalin displaced them cause they stood an Hitler`s side in WWII. Georgian dictator displaced them on Christian river VOlg, so you have idiocy that Tatarstan is part of Russian Federation, sorrounded by Christians. In tatarstan MiG fighters are produced.

I tghink Mazepa's comment abotuthe Turks being better than the Russians was silly a the very least -- ask the Armenians about this -- if you had been conquered by the Turks you would now be a Turk, forced to convert to Islam. However, that being said, I think Russia in the past meritted antagonism as a bully state and that's whyt he Poles and Ukrainians dislike it. However, all 3 of you need to set your past aside or else Islam will destroy you all,

I don't know why I am even bothering to reply to you, but nonetheless.... You, spanalot, are unable to win arguments based on fact and merit so you resort to personal attacks. What I will not allow to go unanswered is inferences on my loyalty to my country of birth - the United States of America. A country I have served faithfully and loyally. I will not allow a xenophobic hate-mongerer, such as yourself, cast aspersions on me and other loyal veterans (Gary, JB6). While you have the right to freely express yourself, you have no right to call into question our loyalty in light of the fact you have done NOTHING to serve this country. ZERO. ZIP. NADA. The only thing you offer is rants of a person filled with hate and loathing. You are no different than those on the unhinged left.

Secondly, regarding Vietnam - you are a fool. Let me give you a little background. 1.) I am the son of a disabled Vietnam veteran. My first memories of my father are of him in traction at Valley Forge Veterans Hospital. He was shot down while flying in a loach and has been paralyzed since he was 24 and I was 4. And, as I CAN speak for him vis-a-vis my thoughts on Russia - he has no problem with what I think. 2.) If you knew my actual name, you could ask the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (an organization I'm a member of - are you? Doubt it) what they think. I have spent the better part of six years away from home, away from family, interviewing over 500 former Soviet military officers and government officials who fought in the Vietnam War for the DRV. These interviews are conducted as part of an effort to provide the fullest possible accounting of our missing servicemen. 3.)The Russians I deal with would have a good laugh at your description of me as having "rabid allegiance to a kremlin."

So, spanalot, you can take your pseudo-conservatism elsewhere. Your posts on FR show you to be not a true conservative, but a person filled with hate - a person whose judgment of others is based on what you perceive to be their race, background, religious belief, or to whom they are married. Might I suggest you resign from FR and join "Stormfront" (if you haven't already). People with you twisted worldview are more than welcome on such fascist sites.

Yes this would be a noble undertaking were you to enlighten us as to the full duplicity of the Kremlin in Viet Nam - few people know the extent to which the Kremlin was responsible for the deaths of 57000 as well as your fathers injuries.

However a review of your posts betrays no such patriotism and it is 95% pure apology and spin doctoring for the Kremlin.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/user-posts?id=203218

This is incongruous for one who spent "the better part of six years away from home" getting the full details of Soviet guilt in Viet Nam.

We also see that you served in the Army and Air Force and you retire in March. Was this six year mission interviewing Russian Viet Nam Vets part of your service in the Army or Air Force?

Have you ever wondered why the Christian nations like Greeks, Serbs and Armenians, which tasted over the long time the tolerant Turkish rule, tend to be very friendly to Russia?

Greeks and Serbs don't know better. What's the proverb- "Grass always looks greener on the other side". (same as with me I suppose:)). Second, Turks were pussies- the only ones they could bully around were the small Balkan and Caucasian countries. Ukraine is much bigger than these nations.

wish for you to one day know the enlightened rule of the Turks

Russians banned Ukrainian texts and abolished Ukrainian church. How could Turks improve on that?
Here's the ultimate reason of choosing Turks over Russians- because of the cultural/linguistic similarities Russians were seeking to assimilate Ukrainians, eliminate ("kill") the unique Ukrainian ethane's. What of the Turks? They're dark, talk funny and pray to a different God- little or no chance of Ukrainians being assimilated.

Re: Armenian genocide
Russia/USSR matches that with 1932 Famine.

Cronos -- if you had been conquered by the Turks you would now be a Turk, forced to convert to Islam.

No you wouldn't. Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Romania, Moldova, Hungary, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia- who (according to you) is Muslim?
Russia/Muscowy on the other hand are like the Borg. There used to be distinct Novgorod, Pskov, Tver, Riazan' cultures- now they're all Muscovites/Russian. Belarusian culture should be disappearing any century now as well.

Tell that to the armenians in Turkish lands.

It's amazing how Ukranians are quite happy to watch Christians slaughtered in the thousands, and then whine how they hate Stalin, and wish for Turkish rule.

St Sofia would fall the day the Muslims arrived.

LOL, that's cute.

Ukrainians fought the Mongol onslaught (Moscow didn't, they just bent over). Cossacks fought Turks in 15th through 17th centuries along with the rest of Europe while Russia sat quitely on the sidelines. Only when the Turks became weak, in the end of the 17th cent., did the Russians "find their Christian calling".

What Ukrainian church is this?

Kyiv Metropoly which came under Moscow jurisdiction in 1686.

It's amazing how Ukranians are quite happy to watch Christians slaughtered in the thousands,

Where are you getting this??

and wish for Turkish rule

Yeah, that's right. I'm a huge Muslim fan. Me and Osama read Quran together. LOL

I said I didn't want neither. Choosing between Turks and Russia is like choosing between beaten by a baseball bat and tire iron. Call me an optimist, but I think the baseball bat will hurt less :).

Spanalot you are the dictionary definition of a false flag. You come from a "former" communist country and pretend to be a conservative, but you use the words of the radical left to denounce American servicemen. Shame on you. Perhaps you're real loyalties are elsewhere?

For example, your statements about the Vietnam War are completely in line with SOVIET PROPAGANDA and disinformation- you twist it to suit your needs (i.e., it was the "communists who caused the 58,000+ KIAs). That is incorrect. Why? Because it wasn't the Soviet Union or China who got us into the Vietnam War, but rather the French and their incompetence. Plus, our, that's right, OUR politicians did not let us win the war. We defeated the Communists and people spouting propaganda that you endorse here were able to influence our weak-willed politicians into pulling out. BTW, my father's helicopter was shot down by a Browning - where do you think they got a hold of that? Amazing that you give the communists so much credit - almost like a cheerleader. Hmmm....

So continue to pretend to be a patriotic "American," continue to pretend to be conservative - but please continue to post the racist, discriminatory, misleading, dishonest, tripe and propaganda that those of you on the left are required by their master (George Soros) to post.

You and your brethern here are the ONLY immigrants from the communist bloc who resort to disparaging the service of American military members. You should be ashamed of yourself. You're no better than Code Pink, MoveOn, and Veterans for Peace.

Romanov - you just got done telling us that you have spent 6 years interviewing Russian Viet Nam war vets - Surely you are a bit confused. Why do you now say that it wasn't the communists in SE Asia.

You remember this don't you?

Hint- we went to Viet Nam because of the _omino Theory ( and it starts with a "D")

And was it the AirForce or Army that assigned you the 6 year study of Communist Russian Viet Nam Vets

Domino theory was used to increase the troop levels. If YOU knew your history you'd know that one of the main factors for us getting involved was to show the French how it should be done right. Look, I'm not denying this was a war against communism - BUT, it wasn't a war waged like Korea was.

Re Sejna: Explain this - how would the KGB allow the Czechs to conduct such a sensitive program AT THE SAME TIME THEY WERE INVADING THEM!?!?!?!"Not long after conservative President Novotny was sidetracked by reform communists in January 1968, a scandal erupted around his favorate general. Sejna was, among other fraud charges, accused of embezzling approximately 300,000 Kcs by selling state-owned clover seed on the black market." Defected because he was a great democrat, eh?

Second article - The article is wrong on several counts. It also misinterprets what Bezborodov actually said. Get the real truth here:

I see - perhaps we should assume that your interviews of the Russian VietNam vets was of a confidential nature.

But if that is the case, why would you bring it to our attention in the first place. A military man with your long career would never compromise confidential work.
