Hillary Clinton calls for U.N. sanctions against Iran (Says Bush Downplaying threat)

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton called for United Nations sanctions against Iran as it resumes its nuclear program and faulted the Bush administration for "downplaying" the threat.

In an address Wednesday evening at Princeton University, Clinton, D-N.Y., said it was a mistake for the United States to have Britain, France and Germany head up nuclear talks with Iran over the past 2 1/2 years. Last week, Iran resumed nuclear research in a move Tehran claims is for energy, not weapons.

"I believe that we lost critical time in dealing with Iran because the White House chose to downplay the threats and chose to outsource the negotiations," Clinton said.

While Clinton was critical of the administration, she never mentioned the president by name and did not engage in the same sort of sharp rhetorical attack against him or other Republicans as she did earlier this week.

Speaking Monday at a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. memorial event in Harlem, Clinton said that the House of Representatives "has been run like a plantation" and called the Bush administration "one of the worst that has ever governed our country." The senator's remarks spurred heated reaction from Republicans.

".....said it was a mistake for the United States to have Britain, France and Germany head up nuclear talks with Iran over the past 2 1/2 years...."

But, wasn't this what Kerry and the libs wanted? They wanted everyone to pass a litmus test? And that the United States should not bully Mid East countries even though they have WMD's?

Considering what the Iranians acquired during your co-presidency, sweetie, I don't think you really want to go there.

But please do..

We really did not have any choice but to talk because the Dems would not let us do anything else. And besides, we were not ready to attack. We are getting to a point, though, where an invasion of Iran is no longer unthinkable, assuming that they do something aggressive.

I wonder if Hillary would have the guts to pull the trigger?

We should listen to her since her co-presidency did so well with North Korea.

I see she's leaving the Plantation behind and moving on to (*snicker*) sanctions... Is she trying to emulate Gina Davis or something?

Spike Lee: Blacks shouldn't back Rice

Associated Press

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Filmmaker Spike Lee urged blacks not to support Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice if she seeks the Republican presidential nomination.

Lee, director of "Malcolm X," "Jungle Fever" and "Do the Right Thing," spoke Wednesday on the Purdue University campus.

He said everyone should register to vote -- and cast their ballots. And he urged blacks to look beyond race if Rice runs for president in 2008.

During his speech, Lee told students they should use education to find their passion in life and then pursue it.
He said that his family was an important factor in his success, with his grandmother, who is now 99 years old, helping put him through school by saving money from teaching and her Social Security checks.

Lee said that when he entered the film business it was a time when black directors and actors remained a novelty.
"When a black film came out, it was a national holiday," he said.

You just wait... after we do deal with Iran, these very same Democrats will come out and say that we should never have done it, bring out the "unilateral" and "quagmire" buzzwords, then claim it was their idea all along and that if they had been in charge it would be done right, and in the meantime we have to pull out our troops because we can't win, etc., etc., etc.

Spike Lee....is crazee! But then, he's a filmmaker, and who among them is not crackers?

UN sanctions against Iran? Oh yeah, that worked well with Iraq, didn't it? Remember "Oil for Food"?

Nope, the only thing for Iran is weapons on target(s). Everything else is mere posturing.
