A Day in the Life of President Bush (and Laura, overseas; photos): 1.18.06

At the White House, the president met with current and former Iraqi citizens, victims of Saddam Hussein's regime.

Laura Bush continues her African visit (with her daughter, Barbara). She criticized Senator Clinton for suggesting that the Republican-controlled House is run like a plantation where dissenting voices are ignored. "It's a ridiculous comment," Mrs. Bush told reporters when asked about the remark. She headed home after reaffirming the U.S. commitment to help Nigeria treat AIDS patients and stem the spread of HIV. She said she hoped that "one day an entire generation" will be free of the disease that has ravaged Africa. Earlier, Mrs. Bush drove to the dusty outskirts of Abuja to visit a small AIDS clinic where a young woman told her of how drugs helped her escape death from the disease. Mrs. Bush visited a hospital, where there were enough anti-retroviral drugs to treat 500 people over the next year. It is the first U.S.- backed shipment of the drugs St. Mary's has received through President Bush's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.

Americans Must Understand U.S. is at War: "The American people must remind themselves every day that the United States is at war, Army Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, speaking at the American Enterprise Institute here, said today."

It really is the Alan Colmes Hears Himself Talk show.

***

Bad blood between Alan and Dick Morris tonight. Colmes denied Morris' allegation that he was repeating Dem faxed talking points, and Morris said I know what you get because when I was in the White House I sent them to you.

SLAM!!!

Did ya'll notice how Chrissy reacted to the story about the bombmaker that we killed in Pakistan??

He seemed like it didn't matter...since he had nothing to do with 9/11....and wasn't from Iraq.

He seemed totally dismissive of that being a big story..

I know we all are more than willing to defend President Bush whenever some schmuck like Chrissy Matthews attacks President Bush or Laura, but to me it seems like we are constantly on the defensive, when in fact we should be on the offensive!!!

This country has been through 5 of the most challenging years our Nation has ever had to endure since the Civil War or WWII, And through it all, President Bush has led this Nation with a firm but calming hand.

Despite the seriousness of the threats we have faced, the Democrats have politicized the process at every turn and every opportunity. In short, President Bush has had to defend this nation not only from the Terrorists, but the Democrats as well, when considering the fact that the Democrats have placed Politics over our National Security.

There isn't too many days that I don't thank God that we have George W. Bush as our President, I seriously doubt there is anyone who could have done better, and I firmly believe our great Grand Children will spend lots of time reading about this great leader

"Q Do you miss your husband, and have you been in contact with him?

MRS. BUSH: I do miss him, and I haven't called him. The time difference has made it so that when I'm home, he would be asleep, or -- I mean, when I'm back at the hotel, or it would be in the middle of the day and I would think he'd be gone somewhere.

So I haven't talked to him and I do miss him and I'm looking forward to seeing him tonight"

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!! Thank you for posting this exchange! Do you have a link to the entire interview?

I was on your same wave length as I watched Hardball.

I think Chris Matthews was caught off guard totally when NBC expert, former Clinton administration member Roger Cressy was totally positive about this "big bad guy" getting killed in the Pakistan bombing. It caught me off guard too, as this guy is usually critical of anything the Bush Administration does.

Matthews didn't want to hear anything good, and tried to downplay the success or change the subject. At one point, Matthews tried to get Cressy to say all the Egyptians and Saudis have become terrorists because of Bush attacking Iraq, but Cressey explained their involvement started years ago.

Matthews wanted Cressey to say this dead guy had nothing to do with 9-11. But no to that too. Cressey explained this dead guy's job had been to train the people who would attack us and our allies.

Mattthews was totally unprepared when Cressey just kept on saying what a big deal it was that this guy was killed. Cressey even said of zapping him, "it's a good thing!"

As a last resort Matthews tried to make it seem merely dumb luck we got this one, but even to that Cressey explained this guy was part of the initial target's enterouge (sp), and traveled with him.
