ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ A potential Republican challenger called Wednesday for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to "do the honorable thing" and take to the Senate floor to apologize for saying the GOP-controlled House of Representatives is "run like a plantation."
The former first lady's claim came Monday during an appearance at a Martin Luther King Day event in New York City and has drawn complaints from several Republicans. Current first lady Laura Bush said Wednesday the remark was "ridiculous."
"Senator Clinton's race baiting by comparing the U.S. Congress to a plantation exploits those who suffered under slavery and it trivializes the brutality of a dark period in American history," said potential Clinton challenger John Spencer.

Yes they were. Her take the floor and apologize? Won't happen. The media will help her make it go away.
BTTT
John Spencer .... soon to be a victim of Arkancide!
John Spencer .... soon to be a victim of Arkancide!
Hilary meant her remarks to be divisive. She was playing to the black crowd shewas in and she got applause from them for it.
To the moon, Hillary, to the moon!
One day I want to see this woman stuffed and hung like an old relic.
Good Luck...she's the best in brightest and always right in her own mind. Do you really think she will apologize? There's better odds of Iran holding "Free" Democratic, non-mullah tampered, elections tomorrow and giving up their quest for the bomb.
Maybe she will do it this Friday. I heard that hell just may freeze over by the end of the week.
I guess we will have to make sure that the story lives on.
The wonderful thing about this is... that this whole business of calling for your opponent to make a public apology is very much a Clinton tactic, and it is absolutely delicious to see what goes around come around to her...
As I mentioned on another thread - this isn't the first time she's thrown out this slur.
And CNN hasn't cleared their archives either, so it's still on the record:

By this remark does Hillary mean the Congressional black Caucus acts like a bunch of House blacks?
If I were Maxine Waters or Cynthia McKinney I would be pissed, but I am sure they wont get upset they are owned by Massah Bill and Missy Hillary.
They're too comfortable.
Like that's ever going to happen...
Dems do this stuff every day. Republicans do not. Spencer is my new hero.
Oh, jeez. Not the token apology thing again.
I don't think the problem is strictly with saying the republicans are in charge of the plantation. That's kind of a common saying.
It's that she said it to a black audience on MLK day, and then said "And you know what I'm talking about", suggesting that black people were still slaves.
