(SAN DIEGO) Republican Congressional Candidate, Howard Kaloogian (website: www.KaloogianForCongress.com) has demonstrated the growing strength of his campaign, collecting more than $170,000 in total contributions as of the filing deadline for the Year End 2005 election cycle.
Kaloogian, who is running in the 50th Congressional District to replace former Congressman Duke Cunningham, raised over $142,000 of that money in the final three months of the year with the lions share of that raised in December 2005 when fundraising exploded.
Our campaign fundraising has been taking off as Ive gained support from conservative and Republican leaders in San Diego and throughout the nation as people get frustrated with the politics as usual mentality that has become the rule in Washington, said Kaloogian.
In the past three months over 100 prominent conservative and Republican organizations and leaders from around the nation have come forward to announce their support for Kaloogians campaign. More than 1,100 individuals have made a financial contribution to Kaloogians campaign as of the end-of-the-year report, so the campaign now enjoys over $150,000 cash-on-hand.
I am excited about the huge momentum we have built in our campaign to take on and defeat the liberal Democrat candidate for this congressional seat. Im also proud to be funding our campaign with contributions from individual citizens who support my conservative agenda and desire to make changes in Washington. This is in contrast to some campaigns that can only be self-funded in what seems to be an attempt to purchase a congressional seat, said Kaloogian.

If you want, you can run for a Congressional seat in Maine. There is no constitutional requirement that the Member of Congress live in their own district.
However, I just don't believe anyone will vote for someone who not only doesn't live in their own congressional district, but ran a campaign to represent the congressional district next door.
The idea here isn't to shop around until you get elected to one.
Thanks for the explanation. It may not become an issue though, as it appears the MSM (SDUT)
is characterizing him as a "Carlsbad Republican." (full article posted above)

He just went and changed his website to say he now lives in Carlsbad after calcowgirl posted that:
Did you guys capture the old version?
ROFL! I wondered where cd50grassrootsvolunteer scootled off to!
Website at 11:47AM: "Senator Morrow lives in the City of Oceanside with his wife Barbara and their nine-year-old son Will. "I wonder if he just moved... in the last 2 hours.Website at 13:46PM: "Senator Morrow lives in the City of Carlsbad with his wife Barbara and their nine-year-old son Will. "
Only as I posted it. It's probably in my cache. Is it important?
He's probably off helping poor people with their winter lawn fungus; being that he's a "grassroots volunteer" and all.
You know, I like Morrow, but it is this kind of cr@p that politicians do that totally turns me off. My opinion of him just dropped a few points.
But the Bilbray thing ticks me off a whole lot more! Here's a guy that consistently over the years in Congress took money from the same guys named as Co-conspirators in the Cunningham debacle and took a trip to the Mariana Islands, courtesy of Abramoff himself. What do some of our GOPers do? Do they distance themselves in favor of another solid candidate like Morrow or Kaloogian? Nope! Issa and Dreier instead rally to get the GOP congressional delegation to endorse Bilbray! It is really disgusting!
RINOs tend to flock together...
Ocenaside and Carlsbad are right next to each other. This is supposed to be some sort of smoking gun?
BTW, do either of you live in the 50th?
I have family there and spend a great deal of time in the district.
I work there.
"Do they distance themselves in favor of another solid candidate like Morrow or Kaloogian?"
If I started looking into Morrow and Kaloogian's associations and donors closely, would I find anything embarrassing? Are you willing to deed all of your property over to Jim Robinson if anything DOES turn up?
"I have family there and spend a great deal of time in the district."
Ah. You're a carpetbagger like Bilbray, then.
"I work there."
In other words, you're a carpetbagger just like Bilbray or Morrow.
I am probably more conservative than most on this thread,
going back to working on the Reagan campaign.
Many who have been bashing Bilbray are the same who bash
Bush. If you want votes some of you will knock off the
bashing. I know many who are already turned off with
this.
Hey, go for it! Look... if you find it, it will taint my opinion of them, as well. I think we should all be looking for politicians to represent us that stay clean. It appears others would like to just brush it under the carpet.
And why should I deed MY property to anyone? This shouldn't be MY fight, it should be OUR fight. Shouldn't we all be working toward a government free of corruption? (or at least working to reduce the level?)
If it is far easier to give reasons to vote against Bilbray or Morrow than to give reasons to vote for Kaloogian, then maybe Kaloogian isn't a good candidate.
(BTW, I speak as a loyal supporter of Duncan Hunter, who represents my district.)
