Kaloogian Fundraising Explodes!
Over $170,000 Raised

(SAN DIEGO) – Republican Congressional Candidate, Howard Kaloogian (website: www.KaloogianForCongress.com) has demonstrated the growing strength of his campaign, collecting more than $170,000 in total contributions as of the filing deadline for the Year End 2005 election cycle.

Kaloogian, who is running in the 50th Congressional District to replace former Congressman Duke Cunningham, raised over $142,000 of that money in the final three months of the year – with the lion’s share of that raised in December 2005 when fundraising exploded.

“Our campaign fundraising has been taking off as I’ve gained support from conservative and Republican leaders in San Diego and throughout the nation as people get frustrated with the ‘politics as usual’ mentality that has become the rule in Washington,” said Kaloogian.

In the past three months over 100 prominent conservative and Republican organizations and leaders from around the nation have come forward to announce their support for Kaloogian’s campaign. More than 1,100 individuals have made a financial contribution to Kaloogian’s campaign as of the end-of-the-year report, so the campaign now enjoys over $150,000 cash-on-hand.

“I am excited about the huge momentum we have built in our campaign to take on and defeat the liberal Democrat candidate for this congressional seat. I’m also proud to be funding our campaign with contributions from individual citizens who support my conservative agenda and desire to make changes in Washington. This is in contrast to some campaigns that can only be self-funded in what seems to be an attempt to purchase a congressional seat,” said Kaloogian.

The explosion is suppose to hurt all of those RINO Republicans who think only liberal Republcans can win in California. How quick they seem to forget Ronald Reagan.

Howard Kaloogian is going to be a breath of fresh air in DC. I remember him from his days in the California Assembly. He was a take-no-prisoners conservative fighter. Just the kind of guy we need in that rats nest of commies, socialists and RINOs entrenched in the Beltway.

Since then he's been taking on the likes of Cindy Sheehan and the anti-war hippies with Move America Forward. No need to wonder about Howard. He's the real thing.

Indeed! It would be really nice if we could get McClintock elected as Lieutenant Governor in California and send Kaloogian to Washington. Government needs more people like these two.

We have another good conservative in this race - Senator Bill Morrow. He significantly outraised Howard in fundraising this year. It is too bad these two men are facing eachother. I am backing Morrow this time around.

Morrow officially says he'll run in 50th District

ENCINITAS – State Sen. Bill Morrow formally announced yesterday that he will run for the 50th Congressional District, touting his military background, conservative agenda and recent fundraising efforts.
The Carlsbad Republican said his campaign has already raised "a significant amount" over $200,000 and established a grass-roots steering committee of "real people committed to the conservative cause."

Some candidates and campaign observers have said that Democrats stand a chance in the race and that the district has more moderate Republicans than most people think.

But Morrow's campaign is banking on the right for victory.

"Our conservative message of fighting illegal immigration, of fighting corruption in government and eliminating wasteful spending in government is a message that fits well in this conservative, Republican district," he said.

Morrow, 51, earned a law degree from Pepperdine University and served eight years in the Marine Corps; he prosecuted crimes at Camp Pendleton.

He has served in the state Legislature since 1992 and represents the 38th Senate District, which stretches from Del Mar north along the coast to San Juan Capistrano and inland to Escondido.

He is one of 10 people running to replace Cunningham, who resigned in November after admitting to bribery and tax evasion in connection with defense contractor dealings.

By then, Morrow had already jumped into the race. He told reporters of his intentions in August during a forum he organized at Carlsbad High School on illegal immigration.

He said he supports having more security forces at the U.S.-Mexico border, a larger fence there, and a guest worker program that does not allow amnesty. He also supports the war in Iraq, and drilling for oil in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Morrow said he is for spending more money on street improvements to cut down on traffic in the 50th District, which runs from La Jolla and Clairemont Mesa north to Carlsbad and inland to Escondido.

Morrow will run against at least seven other Republicans: former Rep. Brian Bilbray of Carlsbad; former Del Mar Mayor Richard Earnest; former state Assemblyman Howard Kaloogian of San Marcos; businessmen Ken King of Rancho Santa Fe and Alan Uke of Del Mar; California Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Newsome of Big Bear; and former Chargers defensive back Scott Turner of Encinitas.

The race includes two Democrats so far: Cardiff school board member Francine Busby and Chris Young, a law student and former bank officer from Oceanside.

The special primary election to complete Cunningham's term will be held April 11. If no one wins 50 percent of the vote, a runoff will be held June 6, pitting the top vote-getter from each party.

The regular election for the seat is scheduled for Nov. 7.

Too bad Bill Morrow doesn't live in this congressional district. He lives in the congressional district of Darrell Issa... ran against Issa, and unfortunately lost. (Marine Bill Morrow is a much better man than terrorist-sympathizer Darrell Issa).

I like Bill Morrow. But, the people of this district aren't going to elect someone who is not even a resident of the district, I don't think so anyways.

[P.S. Full disclosure: I work for Howard's campaign]

Don't you have to live in the district?
It was reported that Bilbray is carpetbagging at his mother's home in La Costa to establish residency.
What are the rules on that?

Senator Morrow lives in the City of Oceanside with his wife Barbara and their nine-year-old son Will. The Senator is an enthusiastic outdoorsman with a deep love of nature.

Bilbray is from the South County - he was actually at war with North County about where to dump the County's trash. He (Bilbray) wanted it dumped in North County. Not so sure this North County district will appreciate that.

Bilbray "moved" to his mommy's house and thus he now claims to be a district resident.

Pretty shameless.
