He also met in the Oval Office with Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt to discuss key elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

First Lady, Laura and daughter Barbara were in Ghana today, where Mrs. Bush addressed an audience at the Accra Teacher Training College in Accra, Ghana, to launch the African Education Initiative Textbooks Program. They also visited with patients at the Korle-Bu Treatment Center, and with Peace Corps volunteers, marking its 45th anniversary this year.

Former President George H.W. Bush was in Pakistan today visiting survivors of the 2005 earthquake.

Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island and the Daily Dose!

I finally got around to framing a bunch of the pics I have been saving, and some that were sent to me when I had a hard drive failure, and I hung them here in the "Dungeon"... Would you like me to post a pic of them :-)

I had rather lose the phone since I have another one of those but if my cable went out, my internet would go, too. I would not be a very happy camper if that happened.

At the end of last week, the city people were out on this side of the street. A neighbor called hubby and said there were roots in the sewer line. They went up and down the street, digging. I just knew that something would happen to the sewer system and knock all of us out of service. That would not have been good at all!

What is a Charter School?

A school not tied into the general public school system.
Not controlled by the teachers union.
In other words, where kids will learn and not be given
the leftwing line as much.

It's a little hard to define in brief manner, but they are small, outcomes based public schools, many times sponsored by the state, but smaller than regular public schools, with strong teaching and specific goals to improve the education of their students.

That's sort of in a nutshell what they are.
