I for one am banning the trash. I haven't been to a movie in over 2 years. Let them watch their filth. I won't.

America isn’t watching these films, why are they winning the awards...

Charles Krauthammer nailed it the other day....he said that probably 18 people actually seen "buttcrack mountain"...but they were the "right" people.

Fox News' Bill McCuddy said he got the cold shoulder on the red carpet when he asked them (the "stars") if they thought they were appealing to mainstream America with the movies that were being celebrated that evening. I wish I had seen the whole thing. Took guts for him to ask - even as an "entertainment reporter."

"If America isn’t watching these films, why are they winning the awards?”

My question: Who decides who/what films win the awards?

The "crowned heads" of award-dom wanted to bestow tons of awards on Michael Moore last year, but his Fahrenheit 911 wasn't a good enough product.

I think they are over-correcting with BM.

I would prefer to read a good book. To hell with movies. Most of them are garbage that I wouldn't see in the first place and the rest aren't worth the ticket price.

Great!

These trashy movies winning GG awards should put yet more folks off watching the Oscars.

Hollyweird may well be self-destructing.

If America isn’t watching these films, why are they winning the awards?

Because America doesn't give awards, unless you count the People's Choice Awards. The Golden Globes are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The Oscars by AMPAS.

The real question is why so many people think that these awards are important in some way.

Though in all seriousness, I really don't give two bits about which snobby and rather airheaded starlets give their friends what.

There are more important things to worry about--like the filth they shamelessly produce.

I don't see very many movies for the very reason that said products of Hollyweird can be attributed as a classic example to Sturgeon's Law.

When Liberal-wacko movies don't make a profit, those footing the $$ for them may get a tad ticked. How many millions have to go down the drain before they figure that out?

I never even heard of "The Golden Globes" before this year, and I'm old enough to remember Sputnik.

But the "Golden Globes", "Grammies", "Emmies" and all the rest of that... I have never watched them. Certain, ahem, activities should be done (if they need to be done at all) in private. It's embarrassing to see them done in public. But then, Hollywood has no shame.

And no discernment, either. Which is why they're releasing loser after loser that just simply... fails at the box office.

My biggest personal complaint is that too many clueless airlines air this trash on their long-haul flights. Did I say "Clueless?" Imagine an airline presenting "The Terminal (Man?)" --I do not recall the title, it's about a guy trapped in an airline terminal-- on a flight frequented by some of us too-frequent flyers? Not funny, just a reminder of why we hate air travel.

Ya'll know what? Brokeback Mountain may cause a run of gay films in all genres...

Such as Star Trek: The Rinse & Set Generation

"I tell you, Jim, those shampoo boys are all just bitches!"

There could be The Odd Species

"Kermit, I knew that pig would drive you back to me!"

In the tradition of from TV to the big screen, there will be Male Call - The Movie

"Oh hell, just drop!"

Political thrillers like Baghdad Mountain: The Early Years

"Hill don't have a clue, Saddam!"

And even war films like Baa Baa White Sheep

"Ramming speed!"

Gad! Who knows where it will end...

"You just had to come out and ruin the Western genre, didn't you?"

"Brokeback Mountain", etc. are cynically called "smart" movies in Tinseltown.
If you happen to hear Ebert & Roeper say, "It's a smart movie"---beware. That's your cue to take along some Lysol to the theater.

“When Hollywood is pumping out anti-family movies with sexually explicit, twisted and perverse themes that glorify homosexuality, transsexuality and every other kind of sexual immorality — then awarding itself for doing so — Middle America better take note.

“Last night Hollywood exposed its own corrupt agenda. [It] is no doubt out on a mission to homosexualise America.”

Obviously there is an ongoing mission to corrupt America. But why? And I hate to sound tin hat here, but who? There is just no way that this sort of agenda has just materialized out of thin air.

Is it just the Hellyweird left bashing the religious right because of same sex marriage being voted down? Is it in retalian? Or is there something even more profound that is behind it? Somebody tell me. I'd like to know.

Last night, I was watching some sports show with Charles Barkley, and another guy-Kenny-anyway, they were making Broke butt Mountain jokes, and totally trashing the film, and it's audience appeal. The other guy on the show wouldn't join in because it wasn't PC, but Barkley was hilarious.

I don't care about all those movies...what I care about was the best foreign film...nobody is talking about...PARADISE NOW...the story of a boy and his explosives from Palestine. Did anyone catch that? Again, all the jews in the audience just clapped away.

“Once again, the media elites are proving that their pet projects are more important than profit,” Janice Crouse, of Concerned Women for America, said

Wrong angle Janice (and everybody else who thinks that popularity and $$$ equal quality, when exactly the opposite is true nearly always. Ever hoid of the lowest common denominator?) You appear like a philistine, Janice, sorry. If awards are to recognize artistic achievements, then the popcorn sales don't count, and why do we even have to state it? So, let's attack these fag pics on moral and artistic grounds instead. But as far as lucky simpleton millionaires awarding fellow millionaires in an orgy of self-congratulation? Who cares?!
