PESHAWAR, Pakistan - At least four foreign terrorists died in the U.S. airstrike on a Pakistani border village that was purportedly aimed at al-Qaida's No. 2 leader, the provincial government said Tuesday.

A statement by the administration of the Pakistan's tribal region bordering Afghanistan also said that between 10 and 12 foreign extremists had been invited to dinner at the village hit in Friday's attack.

Unlike some others speculating on that incident, I personally think that was completely unrelated. But you're right - it's two more scumbags off the streets!

I believe bin Laden has retired after his pre-election performance backfired on him. Threatening to attack in states that go for Bush---ie, to show mercy toward those that go for Kerry---that was when al Qaeda knew he was no longer prime time.

I have no problem with Mushy dancing on the tightrope like that. As long as we have the OK to whack these guys he can play local politics however he likes.

That NYT published photo of the boy, the old man and the 'artillery shell as missile' was too clever by half. That got pulled, but it should have been a big deal when it got exposed for what it was, jihadi propaganda.

That bit of information would have gotten more play, but how many children and teachers are there in a "school" at 3 in the morning? It is almost certainly a fact that the building was used for more than learning that 2+2=4.

Two interesting things in that article. First, it seems to confirm the Kunar link you wrote about earlier and second, I thought it interesting that the article told about US intelligence agencies working in Pakistan.

I remember reading some time ago that the FBI had established close links with the Pakistani agencies after Mir Amal Kasi (the guy who shot 2 CIA workers) was arrested in Pakistan. Its good to hear they seem to be working wel together.

"...Zawahiri had been invited but had sent representatives instead."

And if they died, who is left to rub Tiger Balm on Zawahiri's lumpy forehead, hmmm?

I wonder if yahoo will run this as a headline for four days like they ran the innocent children bombing story.

Nice segue. :-) Yahoo/AP just updated the headline to read "4 or 5 Terrorists Killed."

Additional info from source link:

..."Four or five foreign terrorists have been killed in this missile attack whose dead bodies have been taken away by their companions to hide the real reason of the attack," the statement said, citing the chief official in the Bajur region where Damadola is located...
