The U.S. Border Patrol has warned agents in Arizona of incursions into the United States by Mexican soldiers "trained to escape, evade and counterambush" if detected -- a scenario Mexico denied yesterday.
The warning to Border Patrol agents in Tucson, Ariz., comes after increased sightings of what authorities described as heavily armed Mexican military units on the U.S. side of the border. The warning asks the agents to report the size, activity, location, time and equipment of any units observed.
It also cautions agents to keep "a low profile," to use "cover and concealment" in approaching the Mexican units, to employ "shadows and camouflage" to conceal themselves and to "stay as quiet as possible."
Border Patrol spokesman Salvador Zamora confirmed that a "military incursion" warning was given to Tucson agents, but said it was designed to inform them how to react to any sightings of military and foreign police in this country and how to properly document any incursion.
Mr. Zamora added that although incursions by the Mexican military do occur, they usually have taken place in areas of the border "not marked by monuments or signs." He said U.S. military units also have crossed mistakenly into Mexico.
But Rafael Laveaga, spokesman for the Mexican Embassy in Washington, denied that Mexican military personnel are crossing into the United States.
"I strongly deny any incursions by the Mexican military as inaccurate allegations," Mr. Laveaga said. "The Mexican military is a well-respected institution with strict rules on how to control Northern Mexico. It maintains a protocol of not going within a mile of the border, and those who would trespass would be severely punished."
Mr. Laveaga said some drug smugglers headed "both north and south" wear uniforms and drive military-type vehicles, and might have "confused"...

Well said!!! I have been trying to explain to those who don't live on the border; but it is hard to make them understand what goes on here. I truly wish Americans would wake up!!
I have lived on the border most of my life, and I still don't know what to think about whether these activities are sanctioned by the Mexican government. It is easy to think not, but I have been told by Mexican officials that no one gets any political power in Mexico without the approval of the drug lords. Mexico is corrupt beyond belief, which is the number one reason it is such a poor country when they have an abundance of natural resources that should make them a prosperous country.
Thank you for your service as a Marine, and now as a CBP Officer. Thank you also for trying to get the truth out, those of us who live on the border appreciate your efforts and know our toughest fight is to get the word out about what really happens on this border.
I strongly suggest that you look at the full set of my posts on this thread before making any further comments to me.
Please don`t misunderstand me. I have a hard time believing that THE Mexican army is crossing the border. Any US President would be fired in a heartbeat if it were true and, as much as the MSM loves Bush, it would be all over the "news".
Now, are some Mexican soldiers crossed? Maybe, but that`s very different from what was described in the article.
I did what any sane person that is out numbered and out gunned would do; I took cover.
Did you report it?
Yes.
Could you prove it?
Yes.
Did reporters, who would turn their Mom`s in for passing gas, ignore the biggest story since 9/11?
It happened prior to 9/11 and it was covered in a local Tucson paper.
Did somebody shoot at you?
No.
But, if it was the Mexican Army, you must sound the alarm and alert America to the invasion.
The alarm was sounded years ago. Unfortunately, Washington and the Sheep have not been listening, as youve proved today.
I doubt Fox or the folks in Mexico City have approved this, but they certainly don't care that it happens, and I doubt they have the ability to stop it.
I worked at the Lukevill POE, just west of the Tohono O'odom Reservation.
The Tohono O'odom Council is actively involved in smuggling drugs and illegals. We've caught them in the act.
As with catching the Mexican military in the act, DC steps in and tells us to release them.
Thanks!!!
Your welcome and thank you for your support.
Your welcome.
We can never be grateful enough for what you guys do on the border, with what little you've got.
Hey, the Mexicans own Arizona so they have the right to do whatever.
BS..shot first ask questions later.
I bet if it was marked by burned-out Mexican military vehicles they'd get a handle on where the border was real quick.
No, you are being played. I have too many friends in the USBP who've seen it for themselves. The Mexican Army is acting as "coyotes" to help illegals cross the border.
It's not the de jure policy, but it is the de facto policy.
