said Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican. "Not only because it is virtually unprecedented, but also because it reflects a breach of trust."

Jeez! After all this time, they still trust the Democrats to be honorable????

Cornyn, you're nuts

WE knew they'd break the "agreement" at the drop of a hat, and they'd drop it themselves, for no reason in the world, not even a bad reason. Why didn't you "professional Politicians" know??

But, according to his office, the November agreement was not binding anyway because it wasn't in writing.

It is outrageous that in the American political system, there is NO price to pay for this kind of slimy behavior.

I just posted this on another thread, but I think it bears repeating:

"Holy crap, guys! We really are up sh*t creek without a paddle!"

~sigh~

Another day, another dim lies. Cornyn, Frist, Specter, Hatch all knew this was going to happen. They have some catchy soundbites for the media, though.

What a friggin' surprise!

Honestly, does anyone, besides Clueless Arlen expect the Rats to ever honor an agreement?

In Demospeak, "trust me" means "F you".

This is bad news. What they have done is give their moneyed allies a week and a half to mount a media campaign against Alito. If it's well done and massive, we could be in trouble.

I wonder whether the Republicans will finally learn that, no matter how many pleasantries they have with them, no matter how many enjoyable dinner parties or drinks at the bar, no matter how many apparently pleasant social or work encounters, they are still dealing with liars and cheats.

If Specter loses the nomination because of this, he is going to look and feel like an a**.

Ah, let them keep it up.

They pay the price.

Let's see, 5 out of the 7 last Presidential elections have resulted in a Republican as the President, Majority in the House, Majority in the Senate, what is about to be two conservative Supreme Court justices in a row...they pay a price.

I gotta believe that somebody outside the Senate is telling them what to do on this one. This action means that everybody in the Senate gets a weeks less vacation time next time 'round. Senators don't care about much, but you start screwing around with the vacation time, and you get their attention.

My best guess is that somebody with the power to do so picked up the phone and told the Senate Democrats to place all procedural roadblocks possible in the way of the Alito nomination. The only person with the power to do that is Soros. Soros has purchased the Democrat Party lock, stock and barrel, and is now calling the shots.

I wonder what rank-and-file Democrats think about the fact that the Moonbat Left has taken over their party. When will they look up and realize that the Republicans are a heck of a lot closer to where they want to be than Code Pink and George Soros.

The Democrats are an enemy in retreat. They fell into the trap of fighting a battle on a field not of their choosing, and after a frontal assault on a well-prepared and defended fortress, they were routed.

They are now buying time: attempting to triage and save the politically wounded. They've got to determine who of their ilk absolutely has to vote against Alito, and who has to be allowed to support his nomination.

Intersting that they chose the word "abort" to use in this headline. That is in essence what this is about. I canlive with a one week delay provided the Republicans pound the message that the Democrats cannot be trusted with something as simple as a gentlemans agreement.

what has sickened me about the whole confirmation process has been the sheer ponderous PREDICTABILITY of everything the Donks have said, postured, done.

Breach of trust?

Republican Senators have got to be the most naive bunch of doofuses I have ever seen.

Didn't the senile Specter allow them to add the one week delay to the START of the hearings, which were to start in December originally? I seem to recall that. If that's true, they got two delays, which is NOT in the Senate's arcane "rules". Specter is such a loser, and Bill Frist is no Senate leader. They both need to be replaced.
