Stop this donkey-&-elephant show
By Colin McNickle TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, January 15, 2006
Heavenly fire, Joe Biden has a great idea. And given the subject matter, it's pretty much assured that he didn't nick it from Neil Kinnock, as he did portions of that infamous campaign speech that scotched his 1988 presidential aspirations.
But, and as unwittingly is the case sometimes with liberals, the senior Democrat U.S. senator of Delaware is right for exactly the wrong reason.
On NBC's "Today" show Thursday, Mr. Biden, a longtime member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Supreme Court nominations should go straight to the Senate floor.
"The system's kind of broken. Nominees now, Democrat and Republican nominees, come before the United States Congress and resolve not to let the people know what they think about the important issues.

He would love that....then the nominee wouldn't get the chance to reply to unfounded allegations that the dems would make about him on the Senate floor...
Sounds just like what a dem would like!
Yeah....sounds like the Dems are battered and bruised, and would like to avoid THAT in the future.....by being able to TRY the Nominees in the COURT OF THE MEDIA ......NOPE, NEVER!!!!! I can wait for Janice Rodgers Brown to be nominated....oh please....0h please....
Kennedy huffed and puffed and reduced himself to wheezing when he couldn't blow Alito's house down. So he grabbed some straws in the martini cloakroom and resorted to the worst kind of smear imaginable over Alito's "troubling" affiliation with that horrid -- HORRID! -- Princeton alumni club. Mr. Kennedy brought Alito's wife to tears.
You're a big man, Teddy, in more ways than one. How was that swim?
But I digress, drowned for a moment by the fat opportunity to fire a cheap shot at the Senate's most prolific (if not profligate) make-a-woman-cry cheap shooter.
That is exactly what would happen...and of course the MSM would make sure that the faults of the nominee would get all of the publicity necessary.
"can" should be "can't".....time to go to bed....nightall.
My other tagline is...
I'll give it to the fat turd from MA- he DOES know how to hurt women, and it seems to be a widespread kennedy thing.
This is the guy who told Clarence Thomas (when Thomas was being grilled over his nomination to the SCOTUS) that he, Joe Biden, came to Washington to do something about the corruption..........you know, Nixon and all that stuff.
Well, turns out that Biden ended up being one of the helpers of one of the most corrupt individuals ever to serve..........you know, Clinton and all that stuff.
So, Biden goes from being someone who seeks to ferret out corruption to becoming a weasel helping to cover up the tracks of a corrupt president trying to stay one step ahead of the law..............hence the name, Joe "the joke" Biden.
The guy is a joke.......and if you believe anythings he says........then the joke is on you.
Setting the stage for W's 3'rd nomination; has anyone checked out Ruth? She looks like, well bad to be nice. Kennedy, hah he is another that could go by the wayside. We have to keep the House, we have to keep the Senate. Keep saying that!!!!!!!!
Exactly. What he is proposing is eliminating the nominee, so Biden would have more time to talk. I guess he didn't like Alito cutting into his TV Time.
The Dems have to give the appearance of earning their abortion industry money. That being said, when the hearings actually address legal and constitutional issues, they are quite informative. The Dems don't hold up under three days of media scutiny.
It was enlightening to see Teddy Slick Sleave go the Gym during one important arguments.
The 'Rats, they got nuthin'...philosophically, morally or intellectually.
Take the cameras and the reporters out of the room, in other words a closed session, and all this would go away. Kennedy, et al., never intend to vote for any of these nominees but they try to create a "reason" for their no vote on supremely qualified people, to create a veil to hide behind. Eliminate the audience and the problem goes away.
