Well, I think that the folks who were born here are accustomed to driving in wide, open spaces. I am from the Hill Country and we have to drive on winding, undulating roads. So, we are accustomed to constantly adjusting our driving (more so in bad weather or when the deer are on the move). Also, folks in the Hill Country can spot the newbies during the rainy season - they drive at full speed into low-water crossings.
