Your Mental Attitude - Days of Chivalry
When the days of chivalry are mentioned, we usually think of a gallant knight rescuing a fair lady or treating her with unusual courtesy. Gallant the knights were-and certainly courteous
But the fundamental basis of chivalry was friendship. The Knights of the Round Table were a sworn brotherhood of men whose strongest ties were based on friendship. Perhaps the most celebrated knight of chivalry, the Chevalier de Bayard, was famous above all else for his friendships.
Friendship is loyalty-to our family, to our job, to our community. It is not veering and tacking like a rudderless ship or playing both sides of the street or using people just for our own advantage.
It is made up of little things-a thoughtful word at the right moment
a little kindness beyond the call of duty . . . a sense of understanding of the other fellows problem
a genuine liking for people . . . a sense of responsibility toward our associates.
It has often been said that we must BE a friend to HAVE a friend. And, like all the worthwhile things in life, friendship takes work and effort. We cannot take our friendships for granted. They are like the food we need at regular intervals-they must be given constant and diligent nourishment . . . We can no more get along in the world without a friend than we could without food or the air we breathe.
One of the important things we learn is that friendship involves tolerance for the weaknesses of others-as these same people are tolerant of our own shortcomings . .
Good friendships are those that wear well, said Emerson. When our attitudes are chivalrous, we find that our friendships constantly grow stronger and richer.
The age of chivalry is never past, so long as there is a wrong left unredressed on earth. Charles Kingsley

It's been of late, the sound of storm
and wind and wave have bested me,
The night, the gloom have both conspired,
have harried, and tried and tested me,
But hand on helm, straight through we hold
the course, full knowing dawn shall rise,
glimmering diamonds dance the wake
a-shining like a dear lady's eyes,
Knights hold fast for acts of valor, and they
search the lands for valiant deeds,
they scour the moor and fell and fen
on foot or with their faithful steeds,
But no less noble, less brave, less true,
are those who venture upon the wave,
who hold the course and laugh in weather
that makes of others to weep or to rave,
So sail on, souls of the sea and the spray,
the storm holds no worry for once such as thee,
and landfall shall come with the dawn of the day,
who the winds of the world make wild and free.

Good Morning Troops and Canteeners.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen
May all of you have a blessed Sunday.

Good Morning Trussell,

From ancient times
of mariners on stormy seas
before the mast
of lost, howling, ships a rollin'
seamen slipping, sliding,
grasping in the open air
for a hand hold finding nothing there
Lost in the wilderness of seas
fighting for sanity in a world
of insanity, grasping for the ray of light
guiding the rudderless ship to safety in the night
a pilot with a steady hand
a plan of action straight as the arrow flies
sailing forth to open sunny skies
star filled nights on calm seas
shrimp sunsets on the horizon
a harbinger of sun filled days
carefree lounging on the deck
and being captain of your own ship,
yes, a dream worthy of dreaming.

I hope you get snow today too. Then you and the kids can enjoy going out in it. :) I always hope for snow days. If it's going to snow, then the kids and I should be home together to enjoy it. :) LOL

I wouldn't be able to spend it with them, so I prefer they go to school and get to play with their friends. Though it would be ok if they got the snow day and spent it with their friends at day care.

They are really stingy with snow days here.:) The only thing about today and the snow, is it's too windy to be out there. I'll go and pick up some things and we will have a good day in the house. I'll get something warm and good for a freezing winter day.

We're going to have soup today. With Cody being sick, we have to be gentle on his tummy. Poor little guy. Hope he gets better by tomorrow.

I hope he feels better too. It was Cody's stomach? It's heartbreaking when little ones have stomach illness.

Ah, open skies, rolling waves, beatuful thing of
sail and hull and dancing prow
I met you twice.
That first day was overcast and dreary,
but as you rode your hawsers at that dock,
shaming all lessers near you,
the sun shone white upon your deck,
sleek and dark your hull,
soaring tall your twin masts above.
And I fell in love.
I saw, you, after watching you from afar,
and I knew, though you did not,
you had me that day.
Next I saw you, shining sun,
gentle rippling waters around you,
the belle of the ball even more than before
pretenders scattered on your decks,
in your cabins and your hold
but I think you knew what I had told
your silent slick exterior, as I looked
and felt your spirit in your timbers that day.
And I loved you still.
Ten years since that glorious day,
I strode your deck and felt your humming spires
whispering all my secret desires
of chasing the horizon with my hands on you,
me holding you, you tempting me,
carrying me off to your home in the sea,
but it was never, not to be,
others came and we went onward,
but I dream of steering starward
with you still.
And I love her still.

It's a little of everything. He's got a fever, voice is froggy, joint aches, tummy sore. It's really hard when he gets sick, it can last forever and take a shot of steroids to get him over it.
