Democrats confirmed Friday that they will make a last-ditch attempt to slow Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito's momentum by delaying the first vote on his candidacy.
Sen. Patrick Leahy (news, bio, voting record), D-Vt., said in the waning minutes of Alito's confirmation hearing that unnamed Democrats will "exercise their rights" to put off next week's scheduled Alito vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Specter let the rats delay the hearing for a month while they tried to dig up garbage on ScAlito. Now they want another week? Shove the vote down their throats!
"Er, ah, Mary Jo's were about this size the night we took that drive on the, er, causeway."
Bill Frist should tell the Democrats to shove it in a lower proximity of their body politic.
To steal a movie quote: "The hideousness of that (gut) will haunt my dreams forever."
If I didn't know that photo was real, I would almost have to say it was photoshopped. Look at HOW HUGE Teddy looks like in relation to the passenger. The size in scale equals a normal sized adult sitting next to a toddler.
As for the Dims trying to throw a wrench into things...That picture shows it all: "More rope, more rope"
There are other pictures that are even more revealing.
The mods have allowed them before, but some here get upset...so they will stay somewhat hidden.
One good thing is that it encourages the rest of us to watch the sugar and fat intakes.
One would think that Kennedy would look in the mirror before he goes out.
Somehow, he does not care.
You are right about Specter's performance.
But, I believe wrong on scenario #1.
There is simply no momentum for a filibuster.
Just because Specter denies the DummyRATs' childish temper tantrum of a week delay, they can't go and filibuster.
As far as Americans are concerned, hearings are over and Alito is in. Everything else will seem like simple obstructionism.
I think IMHO that the dems know Alito is going to pass. What they want to do is ensure that he is not confirmed before the State of the Union Address. They want to send President Bush and the American people a message that they are "in charge". This is all a ploy to make the President look weak in front of the American people. They will confirm the day after the address.
