Schwarzenegger's re - election chances up
The Argus ^ | Jan. 13, 2005 | Steve Geissinger

A recent poll shows the born-again "moderate" Republican governor has gained back some popularity, especially in the Bay Area, and is now in a dead heat with Democratic competitors.

"Our survey demonstrates that Schwarzenegger's retreat from the more conservative rhetoric and agenda he brandished during the latter part of 2005 has paid off among middle-of-the road voters," said Melinda Jackson, director of the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University.

The governor's job performance rating among voters in a Democrat-leaning state has climbed from 36 percent positive and 53 percent negative in September, to 40 percent positive and 51 percent negative this month.

Tell me, Guy... How many forms do Conservative come in, in your view?

Many, which is why if they want to change representatives they should be independent and try it in the primaries when it is safe.

They come in many forms? How many? What are they?

When you say "they", are you referring to all forms of conservatives? Change representatives from what?

Sometimes three steps forward and two steps back, but it is the only way to get to the end goal of having far more conservative people elected to office.

True. But in the current case (Arnold), we are taking 1 step forward and tree steps back. This is not advancing anything but liberalism.

Your list is wrong. He is pro abortion not anti and he negotiated better deals for the prison guards union. He has also tried to give licenses to illegals. He socialed one fifth of our state and this was before the special election.

"That makes Arnold a garden variety communist, basically a closet fascist."

====

Here you go again, insults and more insults, no facts.
And pretty pathetic insults at that. You must have gone to the "DU school of insults".

Just please explain, if you consider Arnold a communist, what do you consider Angelides, Bustamante, Gray Davis, Al Gore and so on? Are they the nice "conservatives" you would like to see as CA governors?

Arnold was not the problem, a lack of conservative turn out in the special election was the problem.

Arnold was the problem the day he caved the first time, long befor the special election and blaming conservatives for that will not make it true.

The people denied themselves change by allowing the unions to continue to be a parasite on the state taxpayer.

Arnold gave us all the opportunity for change and conservatives pissed it away.

So far, no matter how many times you have made that charge, you have failed to substantiate it with any data.

A CA guy: Ahhhhhnold is as much a Republican as the late Bobby Kennedy the Elder. You faux "moderate" guys fool no one. If you lose your jobs, appointments, contracts and perks in your capacity as leftist termites in Republican woodwork because actual Republicans/actual conservatives REFUSE your left Gropinator their votes, then we justly call that REFUSING to kiss Demonrat backsides. When California sinks let there be name brand Demonrat control to blame unless there is a genuine GOP alternative which spineless Ahhhhhhnold is not.

I have earned my conservative pedigree the old fashioned way by putting conservative principle infinitely above the financial interests of money-grubbing materialists in GOP drag.

While we are at it, A CA guy, do you favor abortion being legal? If so, why? If not, why not? Whichever claim you make, provide proof.

He was willing to be fiscally conservative and to take on the unions until the people screwed him, so he didn't start off all that left at all.

Man, oh man! You post the same BS on this thread multiple times and won't respond to posts demonstrating how wrong you are. Arnold is NOT a fiscal conservative, nor was he long before the special election.

You keep talking about sabotaging the Republican vote as being a conservative thing when it isn't.

Bringing Arnold into the recall election did sabotage the Republican vote. I think you are projecting a little here.

GMTA! :)

See my post 523.

We both had the same thought, probably for a good reason, Carry_Okie's posts do sound more and more like posts at DU, with no redeeming value, only ludicrous insults.

Here you go again, insults and more insults, no facts.

You don't want facts FO. Do you really want me to keep a list so that people can see the number of times you have failed to respond to a list of sourced facts? I can do it.

So, here you go again...

Other than that, he's doing a great job.

Bustamente may be Hispanic but communist????? OK, let's suppose you are right. His reign will be followed by far better Republicans than Ahhhhhhnold, Wilson, Reardon or their pals ever will be. The suffering of the RINOs will be exquisite and the suffering of California will be an inspiration to one and all. Re-electing Ahhhhnold is no better than re-electing John Lindsay decades ago.

It would seem that post 531 did that nicely. Let's see you come up with a pro Arnie list just as long and just as well sourced.

You are twisting the facts so much, it may cause a hurricane.

I am not even going to address each one, since they have all been addressed before.

But here is just one example.

Here is what you claim:

"He continues to negotiate with Cedillo on drivers' licenses for illegals."

The truth is that Arnold got the Legislature to revoke their bill granting licenses to illegals, and when Cedillo put a new bill on his desk for the same thing, Arnold VETOED it.

You are misrepresenting all his other positions too.

You are no different than the Dems who do the same thing to President Bush.

I am sure you are still crying over Bustamante not getting elected. He would have been just so much more conservative. ( /sarcasm)

I don't require surrogates either. And I don't have any need to hurl insults. You do enough of that for the both of us.
