A recent poll shows the born-again "moderate" Republican governor has gained back some popularity, especially in the Bay Area, and is now in a dead heat with Democratic competitors.
"Our survey demonstrates that Schwarzenegger's retreat from the more conservative rhetoric and agenda he brandished during the latter part of 2005 has paid off among middle-of-the road voters," said Melinda Jackson, director of the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University.
The governor's job performance rating among voters in a Democrat-leaning state has climbed from 36 percent positive and 53 percent negative in September, to 40 percent positive and 51 percent negative this month.

"The rest of us"... you mean like, "legion" of you?
I have, I find no evidence to support your claim. All I have seen in this thread and others is a pathological hatred and detest for McClintock. I have yet to see any substantive and factual claims made against him, just opinion and innuendo.
I've given you proof and logic over and over again. You don't want to hear it. Here's a state with NO Republicans in statewide office other than the Governor:
ARKANSAS CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS (All Elected positions):
GOVERNOR: Mike Huckabee (R) <-- Pro-life, pro-gun, pro-family CONSERVATIVE
SECRETARY OF STATE: Charlie Daniels (D) <-- Liberal
ATTORNEY GENERAL: Mike Beebe (D) <-- Liberal
STATE TREASURER: Gus Wingfield (D) <-- Liberal
STATE AUDITOR: Jim Wood (D) <-- Liberal
STATE LAND COMMISSIONER: Mark Wilcox (D) <-- Liberal
U.S. SENATORS (2D, 0R):
Blanche Lincoln (D) <-- Liberal
Mark Pryor (D) <-- Liberal
U.S. CONGERSSMEN:
3D, 1R
ARKANSAS SENATE (27 D, 8 R)
PRESIDENT PRO-TEMP OF THE ARKANSAS SENATE: Sen. Jim Argue (D)
MAJORITY LEADER: Sen. Percy Malone (D)
MAJORITY WHIP: Sen. Tracy Steele (D)
ARKANSAS HOUSE (72D, 28R)
SPEAKER OF THE ARKANSAS HOUSE: Assemblyman Bill H. Stovall III (D)
ASSISTANT SPEAKERS PRO-TEMP: Assemblyman Mike Burris (D), Assemblyman Kevin Goss (D), Assemblyman Janet Johnson (D), Assemblyman Shirley Walters (D)
MAJORITY LEADER: Assemblyman Jay Bradford (D)
Do you notice about 90% of the statewide officials in Arkansas are RATS? Do you know the RATS outnumber the Republicans in voter registration about 2-1 there? Did you know the CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN Govenror of Arkansas missed your memo that he HAD to be an abortion-luvin', gun-grabbin', nephew-in-law of Ted Kennedy to "win"?
And what exactly is your point? It's not that "no Republican can hold power except Arnold because:
1) There IS another Republican holding statewide office in California, Sec. of State Bruce McPherson. He's was APPOINTED to that office because he one of those "moderate, electable" types who got failed to "win" campaigning as Dem lite.
2) Arnold's been governor since 2003. It's now 2006, and if you're saying he failed to "deliver" the state to any other Republicans, all you Arnoldbots are doing is proving MY point during the recall election that RINOs "deliver" for nobody but the left. No Republican has "won" thanks to Arnold's endorsement? Gee, thanks for conceeding your "RINOs deliver elections" spin was incorrect.
Problem... it was Ah-nold that was the spoiler in the recall.

Truth hurts, don't it ?
I like McClintock a LOT.
His radio plugs for Arnolds props were great.
His thinking and writing always makes me hungry for more.
IMO if he hadn't stayed in the recall race, if he'd withdrawn, I have no proof, but I suspect the recall wouldn't have passed. So I don't fault him for that anymore.
As stated at the very beginning of this thread, I'm afraid McClintock doesn't have a chance at Lt. Gov if not elected side by side with the (R) gov candidate.
True, it's a separate race, but not really.
If the goal is to defeat the dem and support the most conservative candidate, the time for Tom is now, through Arnold, just as it was for Arnold, through Tom.
Well, Herr. Since you are "there" and I am "here. Yes, you are suggesting. Of curious interest to me, that you find your own suggestion... appealing to you. And one of the first things after "arnold-bot" that you've come up with.
For the life of me I cain't figger out how you've lasted as such a troll on FR for so LONG!!!
You violate all the protocols at will to the point one has to wonder if you are enjoying some kind of affirmative minority status, or something! It's unbelieveable!! I've seen it repeatedly and for so long!!! (actually, I think I really do know how this has happened, but I'm keeping it quiet. I wouldn't wanna see you really get zotted. Can't stand the smell of burning Alia flesh in the morning.)
There sweetie, was that enough of a humor casting for ya?
Hay Norm! When are you and me gonna start gittin along already??? (snark!)
I mean us authentic Conservatives, as in those not those parroting DU liberal drivel like you and your FObot buds do. ;-)
Alia: I know you are using "posts" to sucker others into something which isn't being discussed. What is it that I am trying to "sucker others into"?CCG: If you have an allegation to make, make it. I certainly want to know what you think I am trying to "sucker" others into.
I was referring to your nonsense of running around and posting that I said I was a liberal, totally out of context, and you carefully avoided giving the link, so other can't find out the truth.
For anyone who took you seriously even for a moment, HERE IS MY POST on another thread:

Sure, I am liberal, because I prefer moderate Republicans to socialist Democrats, unlike some who loudly keep proclaiming how conservative they are who work AGAINST Republicans and basically call ALL Republicans "RINO"-s and it turns out they prefer to have socialist Democrats elected. So who is the liberal, hm?

I was being sarcastic, that exactly people like you claim that helping Dems into office is "the conservative thing to do" and those who want to defeat Dems and Republicans are the "liberals".
Arnold was well known like Reagan was, so he gathered lots of non Republican votes to take the election. Before Arnold entered the race, I believe another Democrat would win the race.
What is outrageous about running for office to present your views, views that clearly no one else in the race is articulating? I thought running for office to do that was an honorable and civic minded thing to do. What am I missing?
What outrageous behavior ? Refusing to fall in line behind the lemmings to elect a liberal RINO Governor ? Good for him. As for your claims that he has only "about a third of the conservatives behind him" is solely your opinion and has no basis in fact.
"I think he has none of the Democrats and almost none of the non political voters."
Solely your opinion and has no basis in fact.
"Say McCintock in CA to people in a mall and most people will say McWHO?"
People in a mall ? Well, you sold me.
I'm lost. Please expand this element of the attack.
IMO if he hadn't stayed in the recall race, if he'd withdrawn, I have no proof, but I suspect the recall wouldn't have passed. So I don't fault him for that anymore."
Careful, doodlelady. You're starting to present favorable points towards McClintock. The Ah-nold RINObots will soon be attacking you for thinking for yourself and saying something positive regarding the man. Good for you !
P.S. BTW, I absolutely agree with you. If McClintock had left the Gubernatorial recall election, the recall would've failed.
Why's this suddenly of interest, or a problem of concern to you? Arnold is not "pandering" in the name of "Republicanism". I thought you agreed with all that.
Therefore, it shouldn't MATTER, what "political affiliation" Arnold appoints, and according to what y'all have been posting.
I get the game, now...
