Schwarzenegger's re - election chances up
The Argus ^ | Jan. 13, 2005 | Steve Geissinger

A recent poll shows the born-again "moderate" Republican governor has gained back some popularity, especially in the Bay Area, and is now in a dead heat with Democratic competitors.

"Our survey demonstrates that Schwarzenegger's retreat from the more conservative rhetoric and agenda he brandished during the latter part of 2005 has paid off among middle-of-the road voters," said Melinda Jackson, director of the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University.

The governor's job performance rating among voters in a Democrat-leaning state has climbed from 36 percent positive and 53 percent negative in September, to 40 percent positive and 51 percent negative this month.

You are twisting what has taken place on these threads by you and your allies.

Good try, tho.

Not an insult. My opinion and assessment. And you who give volumes of data, certainly can parse things which ever way you want whenever you want it. You are very good at posting "urls" to alter a precise discussion focus.

...the Governor gave the opportunity to vote against unions and taxes in the special election and the people (many conservatives who also did not show) screwed him.

Vote against taxes? Oh, you must mean Prop 76. While it had NOTHING to do with taxes, Arnold tried the age-old scare tactic ("pass Prop 76 or I will have to raise taxes") when it was obvious that it was failing in the polls. Unfortunately, that blatant lie turned even more folks off, at least those who actually read the proposition and realized they were being deceived. He made this claim at the same time as he was staring at unexpected revenues and planning to increase spending on social programs, including over $400 million on his own Prop 49 After School Programs. Remember, at the same time, he was ending the 2004-05 year with a $9 Billion dollar surplus!

Who is screwing who?

The Groper. ha. ha. A taunt.

Try a newbie. You might have better luck at getting some angry reply; or even! Starting your standard Operational Procedure again for these CA threads.

Wonder what's on TV tonight.

I ask you to support your contentions (post #92) and now the best you can come up with is that you've never been wrong? We should all be so lucky to be omniscient like you.

I've seen people be idiots for a long time in either making protest votes or not voting at all, so I don't have to be a genius on that one.

I live in California, so I can read the atmosphere around me as to how the people are responding to various issues.

I observe well, can spot the issues and if I gather good facts I can come to what will be the probable outcome regarding races in politics.

McClintock is weak as a force of personality.
He lacks likability.
He appears to not be a team player.

If you feel like getting him nominated as the next Governor in the primaries, go for it. I think he will lose that badly.
When it is Arnold against the Democrat, vote the Republican. To make a protest vote for some pathetic third party or to not vote in the regular election would be working for the Democrats.

Arnold went after the Dems and unions, the conservatives left him hanging and now he has to get along better or he won't be able to do anything.

If he was to tell Democrats to go to hell, then the Democrats would get their guy elected Gov in 2006.

So a sworn-into-America citizen, An American, is referred to by you as "The Austrian"

You bet. With conviction.

He was born in Austria, raised in Austria and is a citizen of Austria. That makes him an Austrian.

When he applied for US citizenship in 1984, he was required to swear sole allegiance to our country. 15 years later he breached that oath and reacquired his Austrian citizenship. Yes he's an Austrian.

Why don't you go watch your tape of "The Book of Daniel" ? I'll bet you're just crying a river that NBC is gonna be axing it soon. Oh, well, you'll always have "The West Wing" repeats. ;-D

So let's compare how many negative things were said about McClintock vs. Arnold, shall we?

At least Arnold tried and did come through on his campaign promises by trying to take on the Democrats.

McClintock for me got scary in the last Governor's race when he would not get out. He burned many bridges IMO and he is not likable to the voters of California anyway. I'm not trying to be insulting to McClintock, I am just pointing out all he has to overcome to get elected and I don't think he can do it.

Maybe a decade from now he might be doing better, I don't know.

"Arnold went after the Dems and unions, the conservatives left him hanging and now he has to get along better or he won't be able to do anything."

That statement has been debunked on this thread. As has been stated endlessly, until Secretary McPherson posts the ideological demographic stats on the voting totals, it has no basis in fact.
