Schwarzenegger's re - election chances up
The Argus ^ | Jan. 13, 2005 | Steve Geissinger

A recent poll shows the born-again "moderate" Republican governor has gained back some popularity, especially in the Bay Area, and is now in a dead heat with Democratic competitors.

"Our survey demonstrates that Schwarzenegger's retreat from the more conservative rhetoric and agenda he brandished during the latter part of 2005 has paid off among middle-of-the road voters," said Melinda Jackson, director of the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University.

The governor's job performance rating among voters in a Democrat-leaning state has climbed from 36 percent positive and 53 percent negative in September, to 40 percent positive and 51 percent negative this month.

See how low you have gone ,, same old crap,, FO.

No cigar again, what we did was examine all sides of the proposition , actually read analysis and not just dem crap, then voiced concerns and opinions,

You don't seem to like any opinions that don't meet folks like your little backdoor agenda which you don't acknowledge but only run from discussion of, how cozy,

Folks like you don't want to look at or acknowledge any potential negativities contained within these props, kind of makes me wonder what else is hidden away , it's worth looking at, it sure beats the diatribe like the one you posted..

The back side of Prop 76 had a 'borrow 5 billion more as deemed necessary' little option thingy jingy clause contained within as well,, but we don't want to discuss that , do we? This isn't Hollywood and special effects, somebody has to make up that deficit, I would hope you would realize.

More classic trojan horse, hell folks fell for it with the Gubinator, why not really pile it on.,

If the the CA GOP is really that far gone and in your "pragmatic view" as you see it, ie., that this is the only road we can go down much less afford, just shows who's beholden of special interests, gays, greens, developers and big businesses all in a nice little cluster-'you know what' claiming they are coming to the rescue, all the while slipping in more social change than any decent society can survive for long, and making some pretty good jing doing it..

Now is that fair?

FO,, just spin and avoid any questions you don't want to answer on any number of issues or franklly can't.

If that is the ultimate goal of groups like the
New Majority etc, kiss the party good-bye.

Blind allegiance to a party that ignores its main base and scorns them and ridicules them yet expects their undying support is not a good situatuion to have occur.

It can lead to the collapse of the party, who knows? maybe that will happen, the greens seem to have a lot of sway already altho their numbers are not that large as a mass,, the gay brigade seems to think that money is all that matters , its power ,, you seem so trusting of that group, especially, the LGBTers ..

Just Win, Baby!

Back to the game and a cold beer.

You can wiggle all you want, but the bottom line is that you voted with the Democrats and the bottom line is all that counts.

They count the votes: yes or no and your no vote against the reform proposition was the same as the Dem no vote and helped defeat the propositions and strengthen the Dem chokehold on CA. THIS IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE ATTITUDE.

THIS IS FACT. PERIOD.

How do you know who or what I voted for? I did not vote for every one of the propositions and voted as I saw their merits weighed their negatives , I actually voted for more than I was initially inclined to.

The concerns I raised should not be attacked just for being offered, do you want everything viewed from one side only or left unexamined for the fine print and what isn't divulged until after approved?

Let others decide based on what they interpret these same measures to entail and include as gotchas as well. or is that the way the New Majority wants to run things , someone you seem more than willing to hitch your little red hype wagon to, mission-wise.

I am deeply insulted by this idiotic attack on just another joe exercising their rights or actually looking at the underside of initiatives, I voted for some. Your continued attempts to impugn character are beyond silly.

Tell me why you're here again? Geeesshhh!

Are you a state official or a hacker accessing restricted info?

wow , you are a clueless twit sometimes.

Not wiggling at all. The conclusion has already been refuted. (Or, you favor child beating.)

They count the votes: yes or no and your no vote against the reform proposition was the same as the Dem no vote and helped defeat the propositions and strengthen the Dem chokehold on CA. THIS IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE ATTITUDE.

THIS IS FACT. PERIOD.

The artifical world of black and white, as presented, is purely fiction. I can only conclude that it is influenced by undying partisan fervor thereby making discernment of "facts" unattainable.

By the way, will you please tell me what position on issues (in your opinion) make one an "ultra-conservative"? That question remains unanswered (See here and here and here).

VOTING on propositions have two choices, NO MORE, there is NO "gray area" vote. It's YES OR NO.

You voted NO with the Democrats. You admitted it.

Voting with the Democrats against conservative is NOT a conservative position.

One more time: all of the propositions were NOT conservative! Those that were, I supported.
Get over it. The special election is over.

Now, what are we going to do to turn our Governor around and start fighting, instead of embracing, liberalism? His continued deficit spending is a problem. His bond boondoggle is pork-ridden. And he continues to appoint liberal judges (75% of his appointments this week were DEMS).

Yep. Voting democrat, appointing democrats, having his agenda written by democrats... and generally, acting like a democrat. He can stand on the stage with Al Gore and Kofi Annan and espouse the evils of global warming and the need for more environmental regulation, but if I choose not to vote to authorize more bonds, it is I who is evil. It's getting pretty ridiculous the lengths to which some will go to sell a Trojan Horse on Republican voters.

>> voted with the Democrats Arnold? <<

Ah, but you see, it's OKAY for Arnold to "vote with the Democrats" on propositions. FairOpinion's "outrage" over "voting with the Democrats" on Propositions ONLY extends to conservatives who don't like Arnold. If you're a RINO politician, you can "vote with the Democrats" all you want and she'll beat down the door to praise you.

See my post #570. I love how FO keeps ranting about how no Arnold basher wants to discuss the "facts". She has been avoiding my FACTS like the plague.

Check the DEMOCRATS position on Props. 54, 68, and 71. Now check Arnold's position on those same props. Now let me know when FO expresses the same "outrage" over "voting with Democrats" on Props. 54, 68, and 71 that she does with Props. 76 and 77.

Oh, and since FO never bothered to check the political landscape in Rhode Island to "prove" her point that a RINO is the best you can get, I will post the numbers myself. Here's who holds office along side the unapologetically PRO-LIFE, PRO-FAMILY, PRO-GUN CONSERVATIVE Governor:

RHODE ISLAND CONSTITUTIONAL ELECTED OFFICES
GOVERNOR: Don Carcieri (R)
LT. GOVERNOR: Charlie Fogarty (D)
SECRETARY OF STATE: Matt Brown (D)
ATTORNEY GENERAL: Patrick Lynch (D)
STATE TREASURER: Paul Tavares (D)

RHODE ISLAND GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Senate President: Senator Joseph A. Montalbano (D)
Senate Majority Leader Sen. Teresa Paiva-Weed (D)
Speaker of the House: Assemblyman William J. Murphy (D)
House Majority Leader: Assemblyman Gordon D. Fox (D)
House Majority Whip: Assemblyman Peter F. Kilmartin (D)

RHODE ISLAND PRESIDENTIAL VOTE

2004
John Kerry/John Edwards Democrat 59.42%
George W. Bush/Dick Cheney Republican 38.67%

2000
Al Gore/Joe Lieberman Democrat 61.01%
George W. Bush/Dick Cheney Republican 30.91%

1996
Bill Clinton/Al Gore Democrat 59.71%
Bob Dole/Jack Kemp Republican 26.82%

1992
Bill Clinton/Al Gore Democrat 47.04%
George H. Bush/Dan Quayle Republican 29.02%

Those statistics presented in a list are even more compelling than your prior post.
And Carcieri doesn't look like a movie star or action hero, either!
I'm ready for the year of the Wonks(R)! :-)

If the republicans are smart they'll get a conservative candidate like McClintock, even if the candidate looses he/she could get enough conservatives out to re-elect Arnold. You also never know with enough conservatives coming out to vote in a midterm election with low turnout, there's always the possibilty of an upset. A conservative state sen. or a veteran could make the race at least a little interesting.

Why would they ? There hasn't been a real Republican Administration since Deukmejian. The state party is infected with the cancer of RINOs seeking to remake the state in the image of Massachusetts.

You started volunteering for the Don Goldwater campaign, yet, Hil ?

The bad news is that Arnold groupies hate facts. The good news is that they've grown inceasingly silent as the facts unfold.

Not quite silent, but continuously exposed and disarmed as one cannot defend the indefensible.
