"While the agenda is fuzzy, the political signal seems clear: the Kremlin is willing to partner with the Yushchenko presidency and new government in the post-election period. "

Allow me! Ping!
Can't imagine why.
I'd say "Mazepa" :-)
Comrade!
Yushenko is a lost cause, he will be out this year.
"Can't imagine why."
Because Tymoshenko the hero of the Orange Revolution has taken control of the opposition. And until recently, she was still subject to arrest if she ever set foot in KGB Land.
Yush is the lessor of two evils and as Putins bold gambit failed, he has to face reality.
Conflicting signals. Is this a regular feature of Russian politics?
"Yushenko is a lost cause, he will be out this year."
Let see, he survived assassination attempts, he was not dissuaded by attacks on his family, he led a revolution after a fraudulent election, and last week he stared down Putin.
Oh and did I mention he spit in the oppositions face when they tried to dissolve the cabinet?
What are you anticipating - an ICBM attack on his forehead - he might withstand that too!
Then why is he failing in Ukraninan polls?
It really can't be a bad thing if Putin is willing to move his positions toward something the now pro-Western Ukraine can accept.
We really need Putin on our side (for at least 50 extremely important reasons). He has been moving away from being "on our side" for the last several years. Anything signalling a move back is a very good start.
I think it is something to save face for Putin. He will still try to get rid of Yushenko.
"I think it is something to save face for Putin. He will still try to get rid of Yushenko."
Its apparent that it is Putin who has lost political capital in the past year.
New polls will show a HUGE increase in popularity for Yushchenko.

Yuschenko is like "uncatchable" Joe:)). Russian joke: "Why Joe is uncatchable? Since none wants to catch him".
I told you already and many times. Yuschenko is the more profitable for Russia then his opponent. "Putin against Yuschenko" is just a show to dupe you and others like you:)).
Remember common wiadom: "Follow the money!" And you will understand what is happening.

He cut off ukranian gas subsidies and save to Russia about 4 blns of dollars a year. And you say he lost?
Heh heh:). I would say I want more Putin's losses of that kind:)).
behold the new spin (soros who?)
