Judges Praise Alito in Character Testimonies

Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans on Thursday charged their Democratic colleagues with trying to smear Samuel Alito's reputation and character because they haven't been able to find anything legally wrong with confirming him to the Supreme Court.

Democrats argue that their questions are appropriate and they should delve into all aspects of a nominee for the highest court of the land, including the reasoning behind some of the his actions.

"I know the judge probably thinks he's doing nothing here but being on the hot seat but we're talking about a lifetime appointment," the committee's ranking Democrat, Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, said Thursday.

But Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said a lot of "wild" and "unsubstantiated" claims have been made about Alito's character during the week's confirmation hearing.

"We see same old repeated questions and attacks. I think it's the last dying gasp of an attempt to defeat this nominee," he said. Cornyn and Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, argued that if an entire panel of independent judges raved about Alito's capacity to adjudicate, senators should accept those endorsements.

The RATS have been totally discredited. The Democrats in the USA who do not subscribe to the wild rants from Kennedy, Schmuck Schumer, Durbin and Biden are very upset that their party is going down the tubes on national TV. The fact that they drove Mrs. Alito to tears inflammed the nation against the DemocRATS, it has backfired and exploded in their faces.

Alito will be confirmed 62-38

Leahy and Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., declined to ask questions of the "unprecedented" panel of sitting judges.

Is it true that all Dems except DiFi left the hearing room during the testimony of the judges? If so, they probably just didn't want to hear all of their positive comments.

I thought that the young Prof. (3 years as a clerk for Ginsberg!)was a self-important piece of work. He is probably planning a career in Dem politics.

I wish the dems would get off their abortion horse or at least stop beating it!
I think the population is much more concerned about personal property rights and identification security.

The Dems are wasting their frickin' time. Alito will be confirmed, bank on it. Some Dems will vote for him as well...look for several "Red State" Dems to vote for him for some election cover.

````Is it true that all Dems except DiFi left the hearing room during the testimony of the judges? ````
yes.
and leahy implied that there was no use asking them questions because they wouldn't testify truthfully in case they ever had a case before alito on the ussc.
Just how much damage has this week caused the Dems?
Will people still remember their performance come November?
From Michelle Malkin
http://michellemalkin.com/
This is U.S. Appeals Court Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, a Clinton appointee who gave a glowing endorsement of her colleague, Sam Alito, earlier today, along with six other judges from the appeals court who appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee to support Alito. Chuck Schumer walked out before the judges started to speak. Teddy Kennedy showed up late, stayed for 10 minutes, then left. Pat Leahy put on a dour face for a short time, and also bailed. Dianne Feinstein, to her credit, remained for the duration and asked respectful questions.
The Dems have revealed their hideous nature once again.
Alito comes through with flying colors.
It's the unintended outcomes that plague the Dems and the media as they add yet another disgraceful chapter to their growing body of atrocious self-defeating behavior.
The American public is watching and noting these travesties very well.
