Dear Friends,
I am pleased to endorse Howard Kaloogian for U.S. Congress. He has been thoroughly tested over the years in the political battles in Sacramento and has proven himself time and again as a stalwart defender of the family and traditional values. His leadership in the recall of Gov. Gray Davis showed his ability to make a plainspoken case for restoring common sense to state government.
As a member of the U.S. House, Howard will do the same. He will quickly become a legislative leader at a time when conservative, common sense leadership is desperately needed to preserve marriage, stand for the unborn, and attack the wasteful spending that Washington is famous for.
I make this endorsement as an individual and not as the representative of the organization I lead, but I make it eagerly and ask that all of you vote for Howard Kaloogian for Congress in California's 50th district.
Sincerely,
James C. Dobson, Ph.D

Just the kind of endorsement he needs.

Is that when you began following Free Republic? His name came up frequently way before 2004.

Howard's a quack.
Not that I care (not an Issa fan) but Congressman Issa has endorsed former Congressman Brian Bilbray for the 50th. He would bring some seniority with him back to the House. Brian's always seemed shady to me. He'll be attacked on the right for his "support" of homosexuals which was (probably) a political move since his old district included San Diego's traditionally gay area.
It's very early in the process but I still like State Senator Bill Morrow. Ex-Marine (JAG officer) fought and won against the Carlsbad school district to hold a public forum on the illegal immigration crisis last year.
(I'm in the 50th district.)

The problem with Morrow is that he ran a scurrilous and disgusting campaign to get elected to the California Assembly in my district via late and false and defamatory hit mailers. I will never forgive or forget. But I don't live in the subject congressional district.

Well, I am not doubting you, William, but look at the
FR deep archive and just see how many articles were posted with his name in the title
before 2004. (Look quick, because this bookmark expires after one hour.)
There have to be more articles about Dobson than, say, Howard Kaloogian.

I don't think it does a danged thing. That's where you and I disagree.
Among the undecided majority -- which I believe is clearly the case in this special election -- Dobson's endorsement is less than meaningless. It's the kiss of death.

Doesn't Dobson live in Colorado Springs, CO?
He endorsed Janet Meirs, too.
What's up with you guys, brother?

Dobson is a citizen of the United States and has the right to endorse candidates world-wide, just as you and I do.
Actually, he once lived in California. Glendale, I think. Some distance from San Diego, though.

Thanks for that info on Morrow.
I wonder if his mentor was . . oh, never mind.

Howard Kaloogian is a true conservative in this race ... he's not just some interloping RINO surfer dude from the plush. neocon lounges of La Jolla who got his butt whipped by a jumped up femi-crat abortionist four years ago and so he subsequently became just another K Street fancyboy and one, who because he know that he can't win in his own orginal district again, has now decided to try to carpetbag into the CA 50th.
That Darryl Issa supports this devious chicanery makes me ashamed that I voted for him.

Morrow and Issa ran against each other for Congress and Morrow basically came out and said that Issa was working with Hezbollah.
History Lesson
You remember when the great conservative ISSA was in trouble for his trips to the middle east.

Billbray has made a mistake of hiring the two most hated political consultants in the San Diego region. They unsuccessfully ran Steve Francis for Mayor with a 2 million+ budget and came in a bad third in a race for the top two spots.
Billbray has some baggage and it will all come out. Billbray has been lobbying for the Indian Casinos in the area. This is the same thing that Abramoff has been doing. After Billbray lost the first thing that he did was cash in on his former office and contacts.
Issa is a weird guy. I was around him when he was running for Gov and he reminded me of a someone trying to fake liking everyone he met. Issa is really bad at the pressing the flesh part of politics.
