Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson has sent a letter to one of Ariel Sharon's sons apologizing for suggesting that the prime minister's massive stroke was divine punishment for his withdrawal from the Gaza Strip last year.
Robertson's' comments last week drew widespread condemnation from other Christian leaders, US President George W. Bush and Israeli officials, who canceled plans to include the evangelist in the construction of a major Christian tourist center in northern Israel.

Crazy Pat was about to get hit where it hurts him most, in his wallet? That got his attention.

Hah! He was defending himself and his statement until Israel cut off his little moneymaker there. I guess we know where Pat's principles are located...in his back pocket.

And Pat's health crisis wasn't divine punishment? Can't have it both ways.
Oooh his aching pockets...

Pat 'I like Charles Taylor and his Liberian diamonds' Robertson is upset that their response hit him in the pocketbook. His apology is his attempt to appease.

Wait, I thought this was all MSM's Communists taking an innocent 'get well' quote out of context? Me confused!

I may not agree with someones statement, but once, just once I'd love to hear someone say "yes I said it, and yes I meant it" rather than back down just because what was said is unpopular.

Guess he changed his interpretation of the Bible and apologized? The Media screws up and misses the point many times, but his comments about Sharon were not taken out of context (as so many on this Board have claimed).
Too bad the good Rev. Robertson will not just go away...the Media LOVES to quote him any chance they get and hold his comments up as speaking for all the Right and Conservatives...sickening.

There still isn't anything there that shows he said what everyone was freaking out over.
What he DID say could certainly have been held until a better time.

Yes, maybe, but he was probably right. According to the Bible anyway. I like him, and still listen to him, and I am not ahamed to say it.
To: Cecily
I wonder if the Prime Minister's "remarkable recovery", to quote his doctors today, is at all related to all the prayers for the Prime Minister's health. I wonder if Pat is considering that in his apology. Nah... it's the $55M.

And don't worry, it is ALWAYS the same people that show up on these threads to bash Pat Robertson or any conservative Christian. You can set your watch by it...:) You can almost feel the joy coming from their keyboards as they get to slam Pat Robertson.
Pat has done many good things in his life and will continue to do so. No one has to agree with everything he says.

Robertson's original comment may very well have been correct.
Regardless, his timing was lousy.

Why is "timing" so important? If he believed in what he said, he wouldn't care about timing and public opinion. After all, it is written in the infallible word of God. So, why backtracking?
The real deal is money. His moneymaking venture is in trouble, so he has sidelined his "faith".
