no quarter!
I loved every word of it; and listening to meese, you KNEW how ill-informed matthews is.
"He has absolutely no idea how completely pointless these questions are."
I was half listening to the hearings just now on CSpin and reading this thread. They broke for callers after Kohl and a women called in (think she said she was 70) and went on about how she thought Senator Kennedy was asking great questions - - they were tough and....... I had to change the channel to HGTV.
"Biden - to invaild iran and syria ??"
Good catch! He said Iraq, but meant Iran.
LOL. The father of one my clients broke the Japanese code that tipped the military off as to where and when the Japanese fleet would be in the Midway battle. She was in Honolulu when the Pearl Harbor airstrike occurred. Her mother went up on a hill to watch the action, but daughter, who was 9 years old, was left at home with the maid.
YOu obviously didn't get to see the last panel tonight...there was one guy a young TWIT...that was SO misrpresenting Alito's record on civil rights...
I think they are supposed to be back, aren't they Howlin?
Isn't that funny...I keep hearing about how out of touch with America the press is...left AND right...but, I think Tucker really proved it tonight!!
I think President Bush needs to hire Meese to be the front man in this "investigation/hearing" of the NSA "scandal"...
He seemed about as sure as anyone I have heard about the President's rights/powers.
i work from home tomorrow and i am occasionally allowed to stay up past 10 pm : ) LOL~!
Re: Ted Kennedy's Elitist Sexist Club [Wendy Long 01/12 07:15 PM]
Let me get this straight: Sam Alito, who worked hard in New Jersey public schools, got into Princeton on his own merits, took his meals in the coed dining hall and had nothing to do with the all-male Princeton eating clubs, is getting guff from Ted Kennedy, Boston elitist who got into (and stayed into) Harvard on, um, other people's merits, and who just a few months ago reconfirmed his membership in the Owl Club, which according to the Washington Times has long been reviled on campus as sexist and elitist, and in 1984, was booted from the university for violating federal anti-discrimination laws.
Oh, yeah...Judge Pickering...another nominee that got the "racist" tag hung on him.
Alioto's is on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. I don't think I've eaten there, but I have probably been by it 20 times on visits to SF. So, I went to their website to get the image.
Don't you just LOVE that?
I ran across that a little earlier.
I'm listening to a clip of Biden from this morning on the Today Show ..
Seems Biden compared joining CAP to like joining the KKK
Senate Schedule on Alito
[Ed Whelan 01/12 10:12 PM]
A senior Senate GOP aide provides this update on Senate floor action on Alitos nomination:
Reid's people approached Frist's staff with an Alito offer late this afternoon. Alito would be able to come out of committee on Thursday, January 19th, in exchange for an indication that Alito debate could start the week after but that Alito's final confirmation vote wouldn't happen until February 1 or 2. Furious, Frist shot that down. Tomorrow, Reid and his people are likely to try to float another variation of this slowdown scheme, and Frist will have none of it. He is prepared to put the hammer on this thing down and get it started as soon as it comes out of the committee, even if the Democrats hold the markup over all the way to January 24th (which they have the right to do under committee rules). Frist wanted the nomination done in December, maneuvered it to be as early as possible in January, and isn't inclined to take a kiss-your-sister promise of early February as some sort of reasonable Beltway compromise. Those days are over.
Just one comment on the committee Democrats right to hold over the markup for a week: In his opening comments on Tuesday, Chairman Specter firmly stated his expectation that, absent "something extraordinary," the committee vote on Alito would take place next Tuesday, January 17. In other words, Specter clearly believed that he had a deal with Leahy, even if there was not a formal waiver of the right to hold over the markup. Nothing extraordinary has happened, so lets hope that Specter, who has been a model of fairness and firmness, doesnt let himself be bullied or cheated by Leahy and has the markup next Tuesday. That would enable Senator Frist to adhere to his long-planned date of January 20 for a final vote on confirmation.

He equated the dim CAP questions as reasonable and to asking about membership in SDS..after getting called by Katie on his equating it with asking about membership in KKK.
OUTRAGEOUS!
