Sen. Chuck Schumer (D.-N.Y.) crafted the following questions for Samuel Alito in hopes, I suppose we're to assume, trap him on the question of a "right" to abortion.
Here's the transcript:
SCHUMER: Does the Constitution protect the right to free speech?
ALITO: Certainly it does. That's in the First Amendment.
SCHUMER: So why can't you answer the question of: Does the Constitution protect the right to an abortion the same way without talking about stare decisis, without talking about cases, et cetera?
ALITO: Because answering the question of whether the Constitution provides a right to free speech is simply responding to whether there is language in the First Amendment that says that the freedom of speech and freedom of the press can't be abridged. Asking about the issue of abortion has to do with the interpretation of certain provisions of the Constitution.
SCHUMER: Well, OK. I know you're not going to answer the question...

Because the dems' base is a sorry lot of whiney-a$$ed liberal girls that are too irresponsible to raise a kid they helped conceive and Chuckie Scummer can only pander to them for votes. It's either be a Senator or sell used cars so he picks politics.

As First Lady, hillary clinton, campaigned for and was largely responsible for getting Schumer elected. She was setting up New York. I've noticed Schumer is the loud mouth while hillary stays out of the lime light. Every once in awhile she is seen screeching, yelling, screaming hate filled at town meetings. Usually out of NYS!!
I could say this is his payback except he is just like that naturally, I think.

How true. But you'll never hear one of the bloviating windbags defending the 2nd. Only abortion, and the right to eradicate faith from everything.
I hear Schumer has a carry permit for NY, something his constituents can't have.

Democrats make it a point to try and embarass the country from congress when they aren't capable of doing it from the white house.

One truly scary thing is to KNOW that there are MILLIONS of people who VOTE for people like Chucky, Chappy, Hillary & Durbie.
When I 'think' about that it is truly frieghtening!!

Either that, or it tells you how well the SAT measures character and sanity.

The nice thing about Ted Kennedy is that he isn't able to embarass the country anymore. He's only good at embarassing himself.

Why do the dems seem to think the "right to abortion" is the only issue? There are a lot of folks here who think this is the only issue.

Notice that Schumer is one of those lawyers who doesn't think that words have any fixed meaning. It is not what the document SAYS, but what he would like its words to mean.

Watched a republican senator enumerate all the democrats who have opined on the inappropriateness of the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision.
Lawrence Tribe
Alan Dershowitz
And several others whose names escape me at the moment.

The people in NY threw out D'Amato and elected Schumer. They have what they deserve. They voted for her heinous and again, got exactly what they deserved.
They traded in their souls for a few promises of pottage.
