Make sure the file types in WMP are set to receive the WMP stream. That will stop ya dead everytime.

IE has an option to play sounds on web pages. Tools/internet options - TAB - Advanced.

Did you try loading the flash player again?

I'm not sure why you would have local sound, but not have audio via the Internet.
