I can tell you why this affects you.
Most of the hearings are nothing but a play. Scripted questions, scripted theatrics. Nominees are circumspect in their answers.
Mrs. Alito's tears were not scripted. They were real. That takes us out of the "stage" and focuses attention on the true ugliness and viciousness Democrats have been allowed to direct at Judge Alito. She isn't playing a part in a Play. She's simply there to support her husband.
Everyone can relate and brings the words in the hearing home beyond pure politics.

I'm sure she's not enjoying the comments & questions, but the old canard "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen" comes to mind.A "canard" is a deliberate falsehood. The attacks launched by Shumer and Kennedy, implying that Alito is a racist and a bigot, are canards.
Alito is a man of honor, decency, and impeccable integrity. For him to be subjected to this kind of shameful public smearing is beyond the pale. There is no justification for it. None.
To: Shermy
Really! I'd go postal. I think she's showing great restraint.

She obviously was aware they could be bad, but was touched by the kindness of Sen Graham.

I watched a brief amount of her questioning Alito today. She was going on about his ruling in an environmental case. Anyway, she was all up in arms that he ruled against the environment, and that if he rules against suits purporting to protect the environment, it would be a sad day for the US.
Nevermind if the Clean (insert) Act is constitutional.
I was pretty impressed with his specific answer to the case she brought up.

I should've been positive in my comment like you, katieanna. You're more gracious than I could ever be. I just wish for once it was Teddy who was getting grilled. He's never had to answer for his lifetime of despicable behavior. I'll stop now...I'm still steaming.

Say, CBS Evening News' Bob Schieffer just stated that Mrs. Alito began to cry during Sen. Graham's questioning. Apparently he read the first report from the AP before they got around to amending it in favor of the truth!

Not an easy thing to do when the demonRats are tearing apart your spouse.
Judge Alito has shown class, intelligence and composure and deserves to be nominated. He's a real gentleman.
Shame on the Rats!

A "canard" is a deliberate falsehood. *blush* Good thing I'm not teaching English this week. "Old saying" would've been more appropriate then.
For him to be subjected to this kind of shameful public smearing is beyond the pale. There is no justification for it. None.
There was no justification when Clarence Thomas went through it, either, but not to expect it, especially now when the liberals are obviously afraid of "losing" Roe v. Wade, is IMHO hopelessly naive.

It is very sad to see this happening but the goods news is that Judge Alito just won his confirmation. The democrats as usual have way overreached in their hate and thus they were crushed, again.

OK, all this emotional stuff aside.
what are the details on this request from Kennedy to try and lock up the committee, he wants some kind of documents?
To: jsk10
It's because of people like the DUers that a mess like Kennedy is in the Senate.
To: All; Soul Seeker
I must weigh in here (pun intended)...
What is glaringly apparent is the contempt and loathing
these so called democrat "servants" have for a man who
would obviously have the best interests of the people at
heart. Our best interest is the furthest thing from their minds.
BTW Lindsay Graham was saying he knew Alito was a good
person because of the overwhelming evidence (then he holds
up a huge stack of Alito's cases) and because of the way
he has raised his family. That's what started Mrs. Alito's tears.

She obviously was aware they could be bad, but was touched by the kindness of Sen Graham.I just saw the replay, and saw that she did appear to be crying because she was touched by his kindness, rather than because Senator Kennedy was mean to her husband.
After watching the replay, I've decided most of the stories about the incident were very misleading.
