Don't think I'll be buying Sony anything for a while...
From a marketing standpoint, "Music with a Twist" is a bad idea. Is that really the name?
They should have called it "Twist" and left it at that.
"Music with a Limp Wrist"?
Huh. Looks like the Butthole Surfers found a new label.
I have a suggestion for the label name: SUPER!
MTV sure has gone down hill since the days when I use to watch.
The queers and fagots audience comprises, at most, 5% of the country, considerably less than the African Americans or Hispanics.
Accordingly, I get the idea that this new label will be less than sterling.
So let's see...
A mainstream label that doesn't feature enough gay artists is guilty of discrimination, but a mainstream label that features ONLY gay artists is not?
Gees, it is gay this and gay that. What has this world come to??????? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
Will someone please tell me what "gay music" sounds like...
I am not sure gays want a separate label. This might be a poor marketing strategy.
This will go down in flames (sorry). Sony has enough problems selling hits. Gays don't all listen to the same music, they like hit songs just like anyone else...even if a percentage of them buy the music just because it's gay won't justify the costs. Without a hit record they will be just like any other desparate label trying to stay alive. Retailers don't buy the CD's just because of the label..although they may have a good chance to place the CD at Starbucks.
This is a crass publicity stunt created by idiots, including whoever thought kissing up to Matt Farber would help his/her (probably his) career. However, don't disparage all of Sony for what the few libs in NY think is a smart move, a lot of the company will be freaking p**d off with this bonehead move (one of many lately). Also, just so you know the electronics division might as well be a completely different company than music. Sony Corp probably doesn't have a clue this happened (until now).
Alexander's Fagtime Band?
Hmmm...does this include tunes for homo sheepherders?
I was wondering about that channel. It popped up one night as I was scanning what was on.
After seeing the content I blocked it. No problem anymore...
They have to have their own freaking label now? SHEESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sony Music Launches Gay Label
By Terry Vanderheyden
LOS ANGELES, January 11, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) Sony Music has launched a label geared to homosexuals.
Called Music with a Twist, Sonys new label is a joint project with Wilderness Media & Entertainment the founders of MTVs homosexual channel, LOGO. Wilderness CEO Matt Farber called the venture An idea whose time has come, adding that only now are media and entertainment brands being created for the gay and lesbian audience following the success of brands for other minorities, according to a Reuters report.
The label aims to release music targeting the homosexual community with music that is popular with the group, as well as nurture budding homosexual musicians.
Wilderness Media also announced plans this week for a homosexual radio show to debut on FM and internet radio, called Twist.
On top of its homosexual advocacy, Sony has a history of pro-abortion support. According to Interim writer Tony Gosgnach, Sony Music stirred up controversy during the 1996 Christmas season when it released the recordings O Come All Ye Faithful and Just Say Noel, which were described as alternative Christmas music designed to raise money for the pro-abortion organizations Rock for Choice, the Feminist Majority Foundation, and Planned Parenthood.
The controversy continued into the 1997 Christmas season, when Sony was poised to distribute O Come All Ye Faithful again, Gosgnach explained. That development prompted the Roman Catholic archbishop of Boston, Cardinal Bernard Law, to write the president of Sony, calling the distribution of such a recording during one of Christianity's foremost feasts appalling.
Among other things, Rock for Choice supports the repeal of U.S. laws requiring parental consent for teen abortions, and they oppose restrictions on federal funding of abortion. The group also supports massive pro-choice community organizing. It describes legal abortion as the most spiritual of gifts.
