Muslim Thugs Vandalize Calif. Liquor Stores

OAKLAND, Calif. — Dressed in bow ties and dark suits, nearly a dozen men carrying metal pipes entered a corner store, shattered refrigerator cases and smashed bottles of liquor, wine and beer, terrifying the clerk but stealing nothing.

The just wanted to leave a message: Stop selling alcohol to fellow Muslims.

In urban America, friction between poor residents and immigrant storeowners is nothing new. Nor are complaints that inner-city neighborhoods are glutted with markets that sell alcohol and contribute to violent crime, vagrancy and other social ills.

But the recent attack at San Pablo Liquor — and an identical vandalism spree at another West Oakland store later that evening, along with an arson fire there and the kidnapping of the owner a few days later — have injected religion into the debate.

The two episodes highlighted tensions — and different interpretations of the Koran — between black Muslims in this struggling, crime-ridden city of 400,000 and Middle Eastern shop owners, many of them also Muslims.

Six men connected to a bakery founded by a prominent black Muslim family have been arrested in the Nov. 23 attacks, which were caught on store security cameras. In both instances, the vandals asked store clerks why they were selling alcohol when it was against the Muslim faith.

One of the men arrested on charges that included hate crimes and vandalism was 19-year-old Yusuf Bey IV. His father, Yusuf Bey, a black Muslim leader who died in 2003, founded Your Black Muslim Bakery, which sells Malcolm X books along with baked goods.

[War on Terror has come to California.]

The liquor store owner would probably be a major liberal himself however. I've seen store fronts in Oakland with the most abusive language about our President. If Muslim Conservatives are attacking Oakland liberals...we should know exactly who they are...but let the liberals deal with them themselves. Or...FBI hands off...let the Oakland Police deal with it and the Oakland courts handle it. We want this to become a conservative liberal "war", without terrorism of course. And, of course, without even this kind of violence.

I have to admit that I saw the logic in the 10% of Kerry voters who did so because they wanted Al Qaeda to finally turn the war into a conservative vs liberal war where the liberals were actually wanting to fight. But the problem with that logic was that the liberals would have to officially win such a war. Its better for American conservatives to fight the war and let Al Qaeda save face by saying later on "we were really fighting your liberals, we have nothing against you guys anymore."

Plus, I am beginning to think that "Al Qaeda" is now really a false flag operation for Iran.

Then they would have killed the owner.

Interesting thought.

The perpetrators in Oakland are not however, "conservatives" in any sense of the word that would apply in this forum.

I had thoughts along the same lines when reading this. Can't imagine this same scenario playing out in Texas. Maybe in Austin.

The Italian mafia used to do the same thing.

Hence why it was tolerated.

If we send the FBI in and make arrests in Oakland...the leftist population of Oakland would actually cheer for the detainees. They would forget any solidarity for the liquor store owner even if he contributed $1Million to the DNC last year. So let the Oakland Police deal with it.

We need to let Oakland stew in Jihad Juice a bit the same way as we let Sunni Iraqi cities stew in Jihad Juice for awhile until they no longer mentally sided with the enemy.

At least until Oakland businesses start taking down their vile politically slanted signs.

Actually, much this same behavior was done by Baptists, Lutheren, etc. prohibitionists circa 1920's.

They would hear some hell fire and brimstone, then march over to the local watering hole with axes.

How soon people forget.

For example, take Carry Nation, perhaps the most famous prohibitionist in American history.

Born in Kentucky in 1846, she lived in Texas for several years as a child in the 1860s and again as an adult from 1879 to 1889. While in Texas, Nation had numerous mystic experiences. She came to believe that she had been elected by God and that she spoke through divine inspiration. After her husband, a sometime reporter for the Houston Post, ran afoul of the feuding sides in the Jaybird-Woodpecker War, they relocated to Kansas.

In 1892 she helped organize a local chapter of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and was appointed jail evangelist. In the name of home protection she began a crusade against alcohol and tobacco that lasted the rest of her life. Claiming the justification that saloons were illegal in prohibitionist Kansas, she wrecked "joints" and berated persons who sold liquor. In 1900 she adopted the hatchet as her tool of destruction. The sale of souvenir hatchets and earnings from nationwide lecture tours allowed her to pay the fines that resulted from more than thirty arrests.

Can't be a hate crime: the guys doing it were black and hate crimes are only done by white people.

There's a liquor store 3 blocks from my house and yet we don't have the same kind of "social ills". Heaven forbid they show a little personal responsibility.

Stop selling alcohol to fellow Muslims.

How about a big sign on the front door stating "No Muslims Allowed"? Would that be ok?

If I had a retail business.....

"Sawed-off will take care of a lot more than six........."

Possibly, but I prefer precision shot placement. Actually, I think I'd opt for the 10-round extension magazine for that Mossberg. I figure if there are a dozen guys in there, I'd get six or eight before the others beat feet.

Of course, they'd come back and burn my business down, but never mind.

Carrie Nation was most active from 1900 to 1910.

Hmmm... American Mozzies are barely even with the beginning of the 20th Century. Still much better than their Middle Eastern brethren, who are trying to turn the clock back to the 8th Century or so.

At close range, as inside a bodega, accuracy isn't all that important. Big BOOM in a small space can be a huge psychological deterrent to anyone in front of it............

Thing is, though, well-placed shots would cut down on the damage to your stock. Thinking about it, I think I'd go with #4 shot in that kind of situation. Center of mass shots probably wouldn't blow out the backside. Save more merchandise.

But you're right. A couple of examples, and the rest would probably be gone. Maybe the 6-round capacity would be enough.

In the wake of the attacks, community leaders have targeted the glut of corner markets selling fortified wine, malt liquor and cheap alcohol as one of the most pressing problems in Oakland, where roughly 16 percent of families live below the poverty line.

A glut means there are more sellers than buyers. This doesn't appear to be the case.

If they want to solve problems, maybe they should start by addressing them honestly.
