Rice's patience wearing thin at Kremlin behavior
Washington Times ^ | January 10, 2006 | Nicholas Kralev

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's appointment last year was supposed to be good news for Russia: A longtime student of the former superpower, Miss Rice had publicly declared her love for the country and its culture, and even spoke its language. Most importantly, Moscow had applauded Miss Rice's view -- expressed during the 2000 presidential campaign -- that the United States should "get out" of Russian domestic affairs. But far from enjoying warmer relations, a year later officials from both countries are openly voicing their frustrations with one another. One official described Moscow's recent behavior as "inexplicable. Or just mad."

b.) USSR as far as I know don’t depend on imports from other places. Big chunk of revenue comes from oil/natural gas.

c.)First was I see he’s eyes, now its, I’m poking them in the eye over Ukraine, will help USSR immensely build more nukes for Iran.

Other then that I have no idea what is going on anymore.

This may sound crazy, but if the Russians still want to pretend we are in the Cold War, then perhaps its time for us to start aiding the Chechens since Russia wants to give Iran nuclear weapons.

Yes, let's build up a Muslim army to solve the world's problems.

Quote: "Yes, let's build up a Muslim army to solve the world's problems."

Exactly. That is ridiculous and just what I meant. Yet the Russians seem oblivious to this danger and, as we speak, are actively aiding Iran in building a nuclear weapon. Once Iran gets nuclear weapons, you can bet the terrorists will get that weapon. All because the Russians are unable to understand that the Cold War is over. Instead, with the growing power of the former KGB stooge Putin, the Russians are having a bitter tantrum that they lost the Cold War. Oh, just great, have a tantrum and destroy the world in the process, or do the Russians really believe that the Iranians would hesitate to give the nukes to the Chechens.

The Chechens are local ethnics with their local conflict with Russia going back almost 200 years - hardly the stuff of world's problems solving Muslim army.

I appreciate your posts. The stupid gambit of Putin and China in arming Iran as some sort of deterrant to U.S. hegemony in the Middle East is going to get them all killed.

"Nations have no friends, only interests."

The Way of Power is "triangulation", as Dick Morris put it. Don't TRY for a balance of power, CONTROL the balance of power.

Putin is trying to put the Russians in a position to survive. Putin has been quoted as saying that international power is oil and nuclear weapons. Too realistic for most American's tastes, I guess.

Some folks say that oil is "running out" but that is nonsense. What is happening is that new oil and natural gas production is coming only from deposits passed up in the past as being too expensive to put into production. The Chinese are building a whole oil infrastructure in Brazil (maybe a hundred billion dollars worth if the US were to do the job) that will lose money for them if oil is less than $100 a barrel.

The really Big Boys are betting that Putin is correct about oil and nuclear weapons.

The Chinese, Iran, and the Russians are betting that the "American" surrender monkeys can be counted on to make the USA back down.

The guys most in a position to have an informed opinion say that a smuggled in nuclear weapon will be set off in an American city probably sooner than later.

Probably the only reason that nuke hasn't happened already is the war in Iraq.

Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and a few other "Stans" make up the new Soviet Union.

China is not a friend.

India is also moving to the left, and we may lose them as an ally.
