You beat me to the punch. Absolutely. Makes the world go 'round.
Fake but accurate?
The guy submitted it to 17 publishers as a work of fiction and it was rejected 17 times. When he sold the book as a memoir suddenly it was a hit. He lied about himself, he demeaned the efforts of millions of people in recovery and for that he deserves a good ass kicking.
Oh, they can smell BS. But, they love hype, gossip, and BS if it is exciting, stimulating. They love 'stories'. They love men that tell 'stories'. The bigger the better.
They know, they just don't care. Because the truth is boring.
I did a search on this and it didn't come up.
????
Just so you know there are women who can smell BS and I'm one of them. I had Klintoon pegged from the very first time I saw him and STILL can't stand to look at him.
Simple explanation...He musta gone to the New York Times School of book writing like Duranty and Blair....
Some people are so gulible. So very gulible. They believe anything and especially if they are encouraged by a celebrity.
Also known as New York Times journalists.
Thats an interesting observation. While I dont care for Hillary, I dont hate her, not at all. My wife, on the other hand, who is conservative but not into politics, absolutely LOATHES the woman..
I gave up on Oprah years ago when she became the self-professed guru of workouts, home decorating, cooking, fashion, psychology, gynecology, zen, Hollywood, publishing and everything else under the sun. I cannot stand her anymore, she just grates on my nerves.
I read what I decide to read, Oprah can't tell me or convince me to read what she reads. I refuse to become brainwashed into thinking Oprah is all that.
Well I read the whole stupid article and I don't see any proof or smoking gun. Where are the obvious, glaring lies promised by the headline? The authors proved nothing, much as I'd like to see Oprah look foolish.
Mike Nelson's Death Rat! : A Novel
LOL...and these are the women who vote DEMOCRAT/SOCIALIST....they BELIEVE EVERYTHING they hear or read.
So, besides all those women you mention, it looks like my son is one too. He's a high school senior, football captain, big man on campus type, and he read this book. He's a little too fond of the drink, imo, so I was thrilled when he read this. He stumbled upon it when he had to do a book report and some girl in his class literally threw it at him right before class started. He was completely absorbed by the story and it became much more than an assignment because it was a "true" story. Last night he was just as absorbed in the fact that Frey seems to have made it all up. I'm furious. I have seen for myself the way this book got my son and his "crew" thinking about their partying - and they're the "good kids"...wonder what they'll think now.
I think the real con is Oprah.
Why some Americans are drawn to these pagan New Age gurus is beyond me.
If you have other children, you almost certainly should not take a chance on introducing a meth addict into their lives.
