So, besides all those women you mention, it looks like my son is one too. He's a high school senior, football captain, big man on campus type, and he read this book. He's a little too fond of the drink, imo, so I was thrilled when he read this. He stumbled upon it when he had to do a book report and some girl in his class literally threw it at him right before class started. He was completely absorbed by the story and it became much more than an assignment because it was a "true" story. Last night he was just as absorbed in the fact that Frey seems to have made it all up. I'm furious. I have seen for myself the way this book got my son and his "crew" thinking about their partying - and they're the "good kids"...wonder what they'll think now.
Hopefully they will still recognize that alcohol and drugs can be very dangerous. And that people who abuse them are not perfect people. The story Frey tells is still tame compared to what I have heard at some AA meetings.
