ALITO CONFIRMATION HEARINGS
Questioning Begins Today
Each of the eighteen senators on the Judiciary Cmte. will have 30 minutes to question Supreme Court nominee Samual Alito today during round one. Sen. Arlen Specter, as chairman, will begin, then they will alternate by party in order of individual seniority. Round two starts on Wednesday.
Alito's looking tired.
That would be pretty tough. The fight should start with abortions beyond the second trimester and work back. The intial Court case argued only for abortions during the first trimester.
Wasn't expecting that gambit!
*prolonged eye roll*
Can these Democrats be any more predictable?
He just looks that way. Always.
No offense ... but you must have had a lousy looking tree. :)
gag a muffin! Will she quit interrupting the man? STFU Di-Fi
They are doing a good job indeed. And this is not just a defense of Alito, this is also a defense of simple intellectual honesty - something that we need LOTS more of in order to have a chance at self government.
HI --- LONG TIME NO SEE!
How have you been?
IMHO, Clinton is setting himself up for a stroke. He is sicker than we know.
"Health care". It's really amazing that what they consider so fundamental a "Right", they cannot bring themselves to utter without euphemism.
Machine Gun Sammy..
Okay Dianne, how do machine guns effect interstate commerce?
"Alito's looking tired."
No. Too many sips of water.
She poses a hypothetical question, and when he said that he would not answer a hypothetical question, she interrupts with "it's not hypothetical!". Of course, she has not yet stated the case that she is talking about- so it sure appears hypothetical to me.
I am favorably impressed by the Republicans today.
The Dems are making a laughingstock of themselves (once again) by displaying their abominable ignorance of Constitutional Law.
Judge Napolitano said, after the morning session, of the Dems: "They didn't lay a glove on him."
I totally agree.
I totally agree with you. I think it was on New Year's Eve Fox aired an interview with him and Bush 41. He looked horrible! His left side did sort of droop which made me wonder if he has had a mild stroke, but it was not information that was released.

They realize, probably after MANY calls from constituents, that the judiciary is probably THE MAIN REASON they are in power - so they best do their best on this front if no other!
Poor guy, who wouldn't be after being told basically to sit still and then be ready for a few seconds to reply to various blowhards?
Agreed .. but not impossible if law makers did it right
Sometimes I think some law makers just write bills to make voters happy
