Kennedy has certainly changed HIS position on abortion. In 1971 he was adamently AGAINST it.So was Durbin and several other Democrats. NARAL, etc got to them.

What would Hillary Clinton answer to the question, "Wouldn't it be great if there were no abortions?"

I this is among the many reasons that I am very uncomfortable with Specter as the head of the judiciary committee. It's not just his pro-life stance, it's his judicial philosophy.Trouble is, we don't have 50 Conservative Senators. Like it or not, we need some GOP Moderates to get confirmations. As long as Specter votes to confirm Alito I don't care what he says.
To: Cboldt
Specter is doing a good job. He is setting a good example - he isn't making acusations, and his questions are specific with well defined context and substance Yes, but from what I saw yesterday .. the Dems won't take the hint
It will be another attempt to slash and burn for them

And didn't Ginsberg advocate 13 yo girls be able to get an abortion w/OUT notifying their parents? Yet, those same girls would be unable to get an asperin in their school office w/out a parent's prior approval.

Well she is already a "situational ethics" supporter and voted in based on that. Plus she's not a judge. But she wants womyn to have the right to choose. Or she wants unborn children to have no rights; either way...

Off the subject of abortion, and into balance of powers between Congress and the President.
In particular, referring to judicial philosophy used to decide FISA in that regard, if it was to come up.

A liberal believes that there isn't time to get a judge to rule on a 13-year-old's abortion but there is plenty of time to require a judge to decide if GWB can listen to terrorist phone calls that might provide clues to stop an attack against us.
