Dr. Coburn is too good for the stiff-necked American people. They would never support him.

Wow.

Where has this guy been?

This message is eloquent and strong. He wasn't shy about slapping Kennedy around either.

I'm very impressed.

The term "Pro Choice" needs to be changed to "Pro-Abortion".

You are either Pro-life or Pro-abortion. Pro-choice means it can go either way. So I put it to everyone, you are pro-choice. You just choose life over abortion.

Send that to your congressman and senators. Because that is how we defeat the pro-death ideology.

Amen to that!

Something I noticed while channel-surfing yesterday:
FOX News Channel: Carried Coburn's discussion LIVE
and at the same time...
CNN: Was Interviewing Senator Ted Kennedy (while he was absent from the
actual proceedings on the floor of the Senate

And our Mainstream Media still tries to understand why their ratings suck
and FOX and alternative media rocks!

Too bad you missed Coburn's committee meeting discussing the corruption/incompetence
regarding the renovation of the United Nations building.
It aired on CNN a few months ago...with Donald Trump giving an
AMAZING presentation explaining how the cost of the renovation had
been run up (probably by corruption).

This Coburn guy is GOOD! What hope for '08?

None. He is disliked by most of the other senators, and even many back here in Oklahoma. The reason: He takes a principled stand against pork in legislation. Heck, he even voted against a bill that would have brought some pork home to OK, and editorials and Letters to the Editor ripped him ferociously.

The Rove Republicans supported his primary opponent and didn't give him total support in the general election. (At least, that's my memory of it. I'll stand corrected if someone has the facts.)

You are right, the OK "establishment" people supported a former OK City mayor, who was surprisingly overwhelmed in the Republican primary by Dr. Coburn. At first it looked like Coburn would lose to the Democrat former Rep. Brad Carson, but Coburn turned it around after a weak performance on Meet the Press.

If it were overturned, it would just go back to being legal on the coasts and illegal in the middle of the country with some exceptions and some back and forth.

Greatly depends on how the ruling is worded. If the ruling establishes that life begins at conception then abortion becomes illegal everywhere the Constitution holds sway. Life is the first right.

If the ruling establishes that life begins at conception

Make that "If the ruling affirms that life begins at conception"

Much more accurate

John Cornyn and Tom Coburn renewed my faith in this party and its potential yesterday. Absolutely brilliant and inspiring remarks from both men. Coburn's comments were simply amazing. Cornyn made a terrific point in ridiculing the idea of needing "balance" or a "legacy" replacement of O'Connor, by comparing Ginsberg's replacing conservative Byron White...no one gave a crap about preserving White's "legacy" or worried about upsetting the "balance" by installing the lead counsel for the ACLU.

None.

That is pre-emptive surrender. Coburn would be great in '08; when conservatives stand with him, he can win: as can Brownback. Don't give up so easily. Rove and his ilk aren't the final word on anything.

Oh but that's different you see. Balance is only a good thing when the scale is tipped to the left side. If the scale reads on the middle mark or anywhere to the right of it that's a baaaaad thing.

Schmucky and Chappaquiddick Teddy would love to have 9 Ginsbergs on the court, and a Bryer on every federal bench in the US as well. Who needs a liberal Democrat president and Congress to turn the US into another Marxist worker's paradise when you can have an unelected ultra-leftwing judiciary do it by judicial fiat?

Senator Coburn is perfectly capable of winning the 2008 nomination, and of beating Kerry/Clinton/whoever for the Presidency.

I wish what you say were true, but the American people will only vote for open liberals or stealth liberals, it seems.

The American people want someone to lead them in the right direction. All that person has to do is step up and lead them to where they need to go. If conservatives presume that only liberals can win, conservatives will have surrendered without firing a shot. That's not exactly in tune with our Revolutionary heritage...

Yes, and I am afraid that they have. Conservatives won't even vote in large numbers in Republican primaries any more. They merely ratify establishment choices.

Roe is the result of socialism so how can socialism not be the true enemy?

There is an irony: Roe, by cutting population growth some 46 million, has worked to undermine the financial base needed for popular liberal social programs. The people will just never figure it out.
